The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
I will not be buying Skyrim
Why do people feel the need to take such DRASTIC measures about everything? "They turned 8 things into 3 things, I WILL NEVER BUY THIS GAME AND WILL MURDER ANYONE WHO DOES!"
Calm down, and wait until the reviews come in before committing to a rash decision.
This OP cracks me the fuck up......... really? God some of you people I swear.you need to remember that gaming exists purely for him and if it should deviate from exactly what he expects then he and people like him will get very upset.
I'm so glad that they removed athletics and acrobatics. useless stats that let you accidentally level yourself way too high and get your ass kicked.
If you considered leveling up in the originals "number crunching" you've got some issues to sort out. It's not exactly "number-crunching", no. But the level-scaling in Oblivion was so aggressive that you'd seriously shoot yourself in the foot if you consistently levelled up with +1/+2 bonuses; you start to get outclassed very quickly. You needed to game the system to get the +5s needed to stay competitive, which did mean keeping track of all your skill raises to ensure you had at least 10 raises in each attribute you wanted to raise that level. (i.e. spending all 5 skill trainings on Armourer every level to make sure you get the best HP gain.)
It was a needlessly complicated process for something so crucial to character growth. One of those things that ends up being better on paper than in practise.
The more "systems" and hurdles that Bethesda can remove between me and their living worlds, the better.
Sidenote: this sort of elitism doesn't mesh well with the Giantbomb community. IGN and Gamespot are over there somewhere. >>
I respect your opinion. And i don't like this choice in cutting those things either. But i will still be buying the game, i just hope i enjoy it as much as its predecessors.

I love these posts. Watch Howard's explanation for it. When people would level up, you would level up only certain attributes because it would lead to a magic or health or strength increase. I don't care if I get something else. Also it doesn't make sense that you increase one magical ability but another is not increased. It makes more sense. Also, why are you posting this anyway? There are literally milliions, and the Rock means Millions of gamers out there who will not buy this game. You are not special.

R.I.P Bethesda
This is a small part of the overall game. This one item does not make or break the purchase for me. I think I've read there are more skills to work on so instead of pushing points into an assortments of stats and skills, it's less stats, more skills? Will be interesting to see what they come up with. I wouldn't not be so quick to toss them overboard with this game. It's possible it's going to be too simplified but I haven't seen much come out of them that I'd call "simple". A game doesn't need eight stats to be deep. You can make it deep in many other ways.
I look forward to a quick look from Giant Bomb.

Sure it will, they've done Quick Looks that are more than an hour and take place a good way into the game so you can get a feel for this kind of thing. I think the Quick Looks are more valuable for determining if a game is worth a purchase than any other measure. I need to see the game for myself. If not Quick Look's then perhaps and "Let's Play" off youtube, possibly muted if the son of a bitch won't shut up, but I need to see gameplay. Video reviews can be helpful as well but uninterrupted gameplay for about 30 min or more is normally the most valuable thing for me to see.
For example the quick look on Witcher 2 had me hooked after about 20 min, it's an hour and twenty two minutes long.
