I'm sorry Bethesda, but I'm more interested in this game being mainly PC and then ported to consoles. Not the other way around. What do you guys think about this?

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Now do you want to buy Skyrim?

I'm becoming more of a PC gamer recently and this doesn't both me at all. A lot of PC gamers bitch over nothing.
I also am getting more and more into PC games but I still don't get up an arms about stuff like this either. Maybe a false sense of entitlement comes with time?

It's not a false sense of entitlement. It's being held down by old technology. Look at Witcher 2, that is a PC game first. Look how incredible it looks; now look at Skyrim
While I don't like games to be dumbed-down, I don't think a bit of streamlining is a bad thing. I used to get upset every time I heard the word streamlined, but as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate some level of simplification. I think you can trim the fat without ruining the actual core gameplay and experience. Hopefully, that's all they're doing.
Meh. I guess that if it's a good port, it'll look fine and the system requirements will be lower than if it had been developed exclusively on PC. Doesn't worry me much. I've outgrown than silly phase of "consoles vs PC". As long as it's a good game (in every aspect, of course), I'll be happy with it.
I'm still buying it for the PC regardless of what they do. The series has always had a strong community so if there's one thing wrong with it there's bound to be one guy who's going to release a mod to fix it. That's the beauty of it all. It's still fine on consoles of course but they're missing out on a lot but everyone has their reasons.

I wouldn't expect anything better than that.

Plus the mountains of graphical mods, but that will come later down the line, of course.
Guess what, I don't have an expensive high-powered PC to not take advantage of the non advantage given to it anyways, so I really don't care. The PC version will still have mods, so it will probably still be the best version anyways.

Don't care if its console, pc or handheld. Shit's gonna be tight.
Hey check it out! Someone who likes playing video games!
Also: Mods
@zoner: Dude, Skyrim looks incredible even on a 360. But I do agree it would be awesome if the PC was lead for it. But the reality is they make a lot more money off consoles so naturally they want to make those versions the best possible. No one can blame them.
Some of those comments on that article are hilarious.
"What a joke. Another developer thats forgotten it’s roots. Why would I want to buy an even dumber Oblivion? Money says the 150 dungeons offered are just like Oblivions. Worthless and cookie-cutter copies."
lol.
Well, considering that I will be buying it for consoles I don't see how this could possibly change my mind. It just means a better experience for me.

yeah because oblivion totally had a bunch of really different dungeons
I mean, just because it wasn't as bad as DA2 doesnt mean it still wasn't bad.

That is the truth as I see it.
Consoles are the money platform, and Bethsoft has gotten alot of shit over the years for the way the games run on consoles; if they want to improve their image with console players by making sure the engine runs well on a 360, that's cool. Like Eroticfishcake says, there will be mods on the PC that clean up and remove any undesirable console-style elements, and the graphics will be extendable.
Look at how good Oblivion can look, dusty old Oblivion on a good modern PC with mods:
edit: thumbnail images should now link to the right images.
I play PC games for the graphics.. not the difference in gameplay.. If Skyrim looks like shit because it was meant for consoles then Fuck it.. it will be another elder scrolls i dont buy. I have a ps3 but i wouldnt buy this for it since it is supposed to look gorgeous as you play otherwise it would be like any other rpg coming out. I dont care if they port it but as long as the graphics can be customized to look like what they should on pc's then i am fine with it.
I'm still running on a mid-range PC from 2007 with a broken-ass Radeon 3870 that keeps crashing, so I'm happy to keep to lower-spec games for now.
I'm getting it on PC, but the only thing that might sway me otherwise is I could keep my game saves on a console. One thing that annoys me beyond belief is there is no way to keep save games on a PC outside of hunting down the save files myself or in the select few games with Steam cloud functionality. It's 2011, people. I'm sick of only making it halfway into a Stalker game!
Also, I'm still struggling to register that Oblivion is 5 years old now.
Yes I was going to buy it on console anyway. However, I really hope there are more environments then just Snowy mountains and grassland. I also heard Todd howard say theres only 3 guilds , with no mention of a dark brotherhood like guild. They were the best part of oblivion, so I hope they're not removing them.
@Slayer22: They know that the DB QL was a near-universal favourite. I noticed he didn't mention them as one of the three guilds either, but I'm sure either the DB or the Morag Tong will be represented. And when I say 'sure' I don't me "I really hope so" I mean that I think it is about as likely as the game having enchanted swords and wolves.
