So having never attended a midnight launch I really dont know how all that goes down. My issue is im broke, like a dollar in my bank account broke BUT I get paid 3AM on friday morning. When a store opens at midnight do they stay open or just clear out the line and close again till regular business hours. Also what are the chances if I show up at 9am at EB they will be sold out.

having worked in a game store, let me tell you there should be zero chance of selling out of a game like this. They anticipate about 10 weeks of sales for these titles ahead of time.

The game being sold out in general is slim, now depending on how badly Gamestop handles their shipments a given store may be sold out.

@chawliemurphy: This is me speculating, but when my local store have midnight events they just close whenever the last customer in line have their copy. And I'd be very surprised if your store will be sold out at 9am Friday morning, considering how huge this game release is.

Would be safer to just drop in 5 bucks to reserve a copy but since you're flat broke and like the others said, it probably won't be sold out by friday morning.

Pre order it or don't go.

It will not be sold out, its a fucking Bethesda game not Modern Warfare 4.

What goes down at a midnight game release? Things that you will never, ever, normally see outside of a gaming convention.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if the shop closed again once the line cleared. I'd agree that you shouldn't have a problem finding a copy in the course of the normal day.

Yeah, it will be available somewhere on Friday, but you may have to look around. However, it's likely that every store will have plenty of extra copies.

EB will probably have a shit ton but they'll still try to guilt trip you with the pre order garbage.

My suggestion? Go to walmart or something so you don't have to get a lecture from some asshole. There is no nonononon way Skyrim will be sold out.

it won't be sold out that's for sure, but i can also tell you that i know there's only about 15 futureshops across the country that will be closed for rememberance day. might take some driving but you'll be able to find a copy.

if you do end up going to the midnight sale somehow dress warm unless you're from lower BC, I got a terrible cold waiting for halo 3 years ago cause they only let like 3 people in the mall at a time despite the fact that malls are not locked at night anyway and the store was a good 5 minute walk into the mall. if it gets chilly or rainy you'll want to be prepared

also i fully expect to see several scabbard umbrella's when I go tomorrow.

I did this for the GTA4 release at BestBuy. I had preordered the game but still arrived at the store around 9 or 10am (I was just excited, I guess), though I felt like a fool for preordering because they had tons of copies left.
