Basically Bethesda issued a challenge that if someone had a child on 11/11/11 and named that child Dovahkiin, then they would get free Bethesda games for life.

Well someone actually did it. Meet Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer...

If kids try and make fun of his name hopefully he can Dragonshout their asses.

This is really weird, but kind of cool. But still really weird.

#4 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19388 posts) -

Why is he so red?

#5 Posted by IBurningStar (2190 posts) -
@TatsurouXIII: Then they won't have to pay money to find out.

I wonder if the father was playing Skyrim when Dovahkiin was born.

Honestly this kid has a badass name though.

Would love to know what it took to convince the Mrs to name the kid that...

#10 Posted by RandyF (161 posts) -

I want to know when he was due, I want to know if it was a natural birth or not, I want to know if he's going to go by his middle name or his first name.

Basically, I smell foul play. I think, unless it was a natural birth, it's cheating. CHEATING I SAY!

Because he is a Dragonborn, of course

I...I wish my name was Dovahkiin...

#13 Posted by Video_Game_King (36272 posts) -

This just in: Bethesda has declared bankruptcy :P.

#14 Posted by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -

Dovahkiin is a tricky name to make fun of. It kinda sounds like "da fuckin" though.

Change Dovahkiin baby's diaper.

She came up this the idea. She said she just really liked the name and gave him Tom as a middle name so he could go by that if he wanted,

You can read about it on her blog. http://www.56shards.com/2011/11/10/expectations/

Can you imagine how hard it will be to raise that child? He will be shouting the first few months of his life for any reason whatsoever, their house will not be standing for long.
And lets hope he doesnt know the shout to summon a dragon cause that would be a mess.

Imagine if he uses unrelenting force while nursing.

#18 Posted by themangalist (1748 posts) -

His first words will be Fus Ro Dah!!

#19 Posted by AndrewBeardsley (371 posts) -

@Evilsbane: No you don't...

imagine telling a girl/guy why you were named that?

Naming a child is not the time for self expression

That kid is pink as fuck

Robin Williams doesn't get free Zelda games does he?

You can learn a thing or two Nintendo...

Megan Fox got a free copy of Starfox 3D. It's really only fair.

#23 Posted by neoepoch (1295 posts) -

Now Bethesda will change their name so they don't have to honor the contest. "Uh, now we are just Zenimax. No you don't get the games because we said  you'd get Bethesda games...well we are Zenimax now, so HA!"

#24 Posted by Deusx (1910 posts) -

Inb4 everyone in Bethesda gets tired of making games.

You know what... I wouldn't mind to be called Dovahkiin... That's a pretty bad ass name.

#25 Posted by RetroVirus (1492 posts) -

Congrats to the parents, but I wonder what their friends and family have to say. At least he can go by Tom.

#26 Posted by InfiniteGeass (2058 posts) -

I dont' see any problem with this. It sounds like a pretty cool name anyway.

#27 Posted by ArbitraryWater (12130 posts) -

If that was my name, I would pretend I was a foreign exchange student of Eastern European background. I feel sorry for young Dovahkiin though. He's going to have to go through so much shit in school with teachers mispronouncing his name 'n such. Hopefully he won't develop a complex as a result of being named that way so his parents could get free stuff.

Better than Turok is all I can say.

#29 Posted by Simplexity (1382 posts) -

I am going to assume that they will use "Tom" more often then Dovahkiin, congratz to them and that kid for having the best name ever.

My name? Well baby my name is... DOOOOVAAAAHHKIIIIIIN!!

So his name is Tom, got it.

#34 Posted by ModernMajorGeneral (20 posts) -

That kid already knows he's badass

#35 Posted by PeasantAbuse (5138 posts) -

I'm pretty positive that kid will off himself once he learns that his parents named him something so that they could get free video games.

Yeah, that's a hell of a badass name.

Poor kid.

#38 Posted by Landon (4164 posts) -

Im assuming they will call him by Tom for his life, although I'm sure that wont help with the inevitable bullying he will get. I hope his future school likes RPGs....

#39 Posted by onimonkii (2464 posts) -

i've heard of kids named worse for no compensation really.

poor kid. i actually like the name. not for a kid but think of kid at 16 asking his parents how he got his name. oh he must feel loved

#41 Posted by TheHT (11819 posts) -

I wouldn't mind if my name was Dovahkiin. Having Tom as a middle name sucks though.

"Hey guys I'm DO-VAH-KIIN Tom..."

#42 Posted by Gerhabio (1977 posts) -

@FluxWaveZ: You'll know when you're older.

#43 Posted by Animasta (14728 posts) -

you guys are crazy he's going to get teased like NO TOMORROW

#44 Posted by BoG (5192 posts) -

Champ.

#45 Posted by Mikemcn (7023 posts) -

They'll call him Tom in everything, if it's on his birth certificate he'll eventually have to sign his full name on things, but by then he should be able to deal. Plus, we'll all live in a videogame soon enough, so it won't be so bad.

#46 Posted by Neferon (262 posts) -

I'm torn, this is both sad and completely awesome.

#47 Posted by Brendan (8167 posts) -

By the time he's even in school his name will have nothing to do with anything related to video games except to his parents. To other kids he'll simply have a foreign sounding name, that's it. I don't think that this will negatively affect his life all that much. That being said, I wouldn't name my kid after something like that.

#48 Posted by Twinblade34 (118 posts) -

Well, who cares about the name, he got the best birth date ever

#49 Posted by CrazyBagMan (859 posts) -

After reading her blog post on the subject I'm a lot more in favor of it. She makes good points and sounds like a great parent.

#50 Posted by Korwin (3040 posts) -

Claudia Black name her kids after Norse gods, this is only one step removed from that.
