For some reason I decided to play some more Skyrim and the game crashes to my desktop after it plays the intro video. I've tried verifying the game files via Steam, and it said that it failed to verify two files but redownloaded them. Games still crashes. This is so strange, I've put about 40hrs into the game and all of a sudden the game starts doing this. Any suggestions?

If you have any mods then uninstall them. If that fails I would uninstall the whole game and reinstall it. If that doesn't work then it is a problem with your computer, not skyrim.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with Skyrim, because I can play all of my other games just fine. I have quite a few mods, but it hasn't given me issue before.

If anything, verifying those two files made things worse. Uninstall all of your mods, that is always the first step.

Okay, I decided to go down the list of mods from most recent to oldest, and the first one I uninstalled fixed the game. It was a third person over the shoulder mod that apparently was the culprit. All the other mods work fine, but for some reason that one doesn't. Weird...
