Seems like this game needs an HD texture pack install option. I wasn't that impressed with the look of the game but as this is the opening 13 min (clip stopped at 13 min for me) I guess that isn't too bad. Game will be fun I'm sure but I was more impressed with the opening of the Witcher 2 and Dark Souls.

Yea agreed and while I make no excuses for Bethesda he really didn't see to have a good handle on a controller whipping the camera around like a 2 year old and couldn't swing straight if it was attached to his head, The Classic jank is still there but it looks buried under a beautiful world Still really excited for this, and if it looks like that on a damn Xbox I can't wait to play it on my PC.

Those textures on 360 are baaaad.

Watched the footage. Why is it that people who get games early are always the ones who suck at them? I remember watching two Swedish dudes stream Resident Evil 5 like a month before it came out with similar levels of incompetence. But anyways, who cares? Game is going to be awesome, and the footage isn't especially spoilerific.

Sort of janky, but it's tough to judge a game like Skyrim on what is essentially a highly scripted tutorial.

It looks great, save for some bad shadows, but meh.

As I watched it, I kept my expectations of the visuals in check due to the fact that A) It's running on the 360, the weakest of the 3 systems that it is being released on, and B) The video itself is only recorded in 360p. OF COURSE it's gonna look grungy and janky as hell.

Now, if it looks like that when i'm running it on High settings on my PC then there may be an issue, but I somehow doubt that.

The Kotaku video doesn't seem to be up anymore.

Why spoil it for yourself by watching an inferior-quality video? I'm waiting for 11/11 when I'll be able to boot the game, move all the sliders to the right, and experience Skyrim the way it's meant to be experienced.

I watched it but only cause people were freaking out of the performance issues on 360 when there was nothing to freak out over seeing as the guy didn't have it downloaded on his HD. So those that haven't seen it and will not watch it worry not it looks great on 360 and I'm sure it'll look great on PS3 and even better on PCs that can run it good-max.

Horrible quality, but still running

I loved Fallout3 so much but after watching videos well into the 2nd hour of gameplay of Skyrim, I don't see much attraction. Maybe I just find the whole medieval theme to be very passe. There are other things too such as:
-the entire world with its tons of information is thrust upon you instead of a tightly focused and gradual reveal. You can pick up dozens of books pretty quickly and I guess if you don't read them all soon after, you'll be missing out on what's happening and what you're supposed to be doing and what the different sides are and what their stance is.
-the combat looks very awkward and janky. The finishing animations that you get once in a while seem cool though. 
-never thought I'd say this but I think the world is too open, especially since it's very early. 25min in and you've already got 7-8 or objective markers showing side quests and the main quest. Some people attack you, some don't and you don't know why. There are always direction markers around you and you're fraught with choices. You have no idea if you should explore those and if that choice is good or bad. Do you slog through this generic dungeon or listen to the prattle of that village. etc

-forgot to mention the crafting: Why does there need to be separate, inconvenient apparatuses for creating armor, upgrading armor, creating weapons, upgrading weapons, creating usable materials from raw materials, creating magic, alchemy, potion mixer, cooking and the lord knows what else?
-there are also too many options when you level up, especially since it's the beginning.
