The guide for Skyrim has 651 pages...

The novelty kind of wears off on these strategy guides, at least for me. Sure, it looks great and thick (that's what she said) but I don't know if I'll get too much use out of it.
Strategy guides tend to be bloated by odd design choices. Lists of items spread out over more pages than are necessary, for instance. So it's longer, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything about the game. I have little doubt there's more content in Skyrim, but like with Oblivion there's really not much point in picking up the guide. Almost everything will be put online within a few weeks of release. If you want all the answers immediately, I guess it might make sense. By the time I make it though my first playthrough of the game, everything will be posted in a wiki. I plan on taking my time.
I might buy that. That seems like the kind of thing i'll be really glad I bought ten years from now.
Last strategy guide I bought was Final Fantasy XII. Thought about the Fallout 3 guide a while ago but the online wiki was more than enough.
Strategy Guides? Anyone know where to get one for real life?! Ahahaha, but no really? Like some have said, I would rather do everything myself, trying to find kickass items is so much of the fun! Really tho, a real life strat guide with winning lotto numbers and the codes to bank vaults would be fantastic! =)
I pre-ordered the hardcover because it only cost me $3 after applying Amazon credit. I have a fetish for hardcover books. Also, after exploring a cave its kinda nice to be able to check that you didn't miss the little trap door that leads to the Goonies-esque pirate ship cavern and all that booty.
Very tempted. I found New Vegas' strategy guide to be invaluable. Each quest had a crazy web diagram of how the scenario could play out... no way I'd be able to comprehend that through silly wiki pages.
I wouldn't bother with the guide myself.
Couple'a reasons: first like most people here I want my first playthough to be a surprise, without foreknowledge or warning. Second, my friend had the Fallout 3 guide, and just flipping through it I found a number of things that were not true in the final game (the guide likely being written on a non-final build). Third, www.UESP.net will be more awesome as an information source by the time I'm ready to read about the game on subsequent playthroughs.
I do respect the size of the volume, at least. From the picture in the OP, I have a feeling it isn't just padded out with illustrations (unlike the Dark Souls guide, which I uh... borrowed a copy of from a friend... when my local EB didn't have it)
like everyone said it uesless buying it cause in a couple of weeks the stuff will be online in a matter of weeks. As for me the only stratigy gued i have ever bought was for resi 4 and it was for that dame sldeing puzzele the next day my dad got a computer and put the intrnety on it..£20 i will never get back :(
