Unless the pre-load is up, I don't see the point in pre-ordering games.

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Who's got their pre-order down?
I was about to pre-order it a couple days ago when I remembered that Skyward Sword comes out this month too. I really need a better source of income.
I pre ordered months ago as well, because I got it on the cheap and because I knew I wasn't going to be able to resist the game anyway. I won't likely get it on day one, but I can live with that. It's just sad because I all I'll even use the box for is for the key to activate on Steam anyway, which means I should be able to pre-load and be playing day one in a perfect world.
I switched my pre-order from the standard edition to the Collector's Edition when it was announced. I paid it off on Thursday so all I have to do now is wait. Which will most likely kill me.
I might waffle and get the soundtrack.
I put mad listens on the Morrowind and Oblivion soundtracks, and I just pulled those out of the /music directory and downloaded the album covers (or did I torrent them, I can't remember, either way I could have just moved the files from the game dir to my itunes dir...). Anyway, what I'm thinking is I'm getting the Steam copy, so I don't have anything physical, and buying the soundtrack would give me something for my bookshelf (after I rip them and never use the discs again?) while putting a few bucks in Jeremy Soule's pocket for all the pleasure I've taken from his work.
I should probably get the sound track....
@Mr_Skeleton: My experience with AAA games on Steam in the last two years suggests that yes, preloading will happen.
My guess, check on Wednesday. By then if not earlier, IMO.
Preordered on Steam Drooling at the count down clock: "This game will unlock in approximately 4 days and 13 hours"

I was thinking about it, but I'm 100% certain I will be able to walk in to my local shop Friday morning and buy it.
If not...Panic time!
Don't you want an awesome cloth map for your wall though?
I preordered my copy a couple months ago, just to guarantee I'd have a copy available to grab on release day. I preordered at Gamestop, so I get a lifesize map of the game or something, which I could care less about. I really wish they gave you a special weapoon/armor or something.
Pre-ordered from amazon and I have off on that day! Hopefully UPS will get it to me at a reasonable time
I'm going to a midnight launch. I'd prefer to order it online somewhere but my friends are making come along and I've always wanted to know what a midnight launch is like anyway. The brief amount I played at Eurogamer Expo had me sold on the game and the only unknown for me is on the technical side. I really hope I don't get any of the stuck-in-rock type bugs that I experienced in Fallout 3.

In oblivion and Fallout you could enter "tcl" in the console to toggle noclip. Saved me many times from having to reload my game. I really hope that we still have access to the console in the PC version of Skyrim.
