Pleasantly Surprised

Ever since i bought LBP, i've been wanting a PS3 Eye camera. I wanted it even more when i discovered that there are a few trophies/achievements in games that i own which require the PS3 camera to achieve. So the other day i went to Best Buy looking for one of these cameras.
Normally, they go for around 40 bucks brand new. Which i really didn't want to spend, just for a camera that i would get minor use out of, but i picked it up anyway. As i was leaving Best Buy, i decided to check out the clearance rack, and amazingly i found an entire stack of this Eye of Judgement game i had never heard of for only 10 bucks. The best part being that the game is packaged with the exact same camera that i was about to pay 40 dollars for. That Eye of Judgement pack used to go for 70 bucks, but for some reason Best Buy wanted to clear them out.

Anyways, long story short i picked up this game package solely for the camera, but the game turned out to be really, really... REALLY cool. Here is a video that gives you a quick, basic idea of what it's like:

I think it's a really unique, amazing idea for a game. I had always heard about those "Magic The Gathering" type games, and i had played virtual trading card games like "Pox Nora." So i was somewhat familiar with that type of thing. But this takes it to a whole new, crazy cool level. It removes all the tediousness, keeps track of all the minor details for you, and lets you focus on the actual strategy. All the while giving you really cool animations to go with it.

Oddly enough, my favorite part of the game is just watching the cards come alive (but that is by no means me saying the gameplay is a slouch). The game comes with like 40 cards, which is plenty, and i spent the first while just holding each card under the camera and watching them materialize as 3D creatures.
They sell booster packs everywhere. Apparently the game has a pretty big cult following, with tournaments being played quite regularly. I really can't believe i'd never heard of this game before.

The game has been patched quite a bit, had new features added to it, has trophy support, has online play, etc.

Obviously me getting the entire package for 10 bucks was a steal. I would have payed 4-5 times that now that i've tried it, and know how fun it is. I'd recommend anyone that has a PS3 try and scoop this game up, and give it a try. It's probably the most unique game on any console right now.

The EoJ package is still 70 bucks on Amazon. So yeah, i definitely robbed someone. I'd suggest anyone interested in it go look around at Best Buy, or some other store, and try and find it on a clearance rack like i did. I wouldn't ever fork over 70 bucks for a year old game. No matter how good it is.

It's too bad EoJ is the only retail game that uses it uniquely. There are some interesting PSN titles if you want to put the Eye to some other use.

I wonder if I threw away that PAX2007 Eye of Judgement card I didn't care about.

The Eye of Judgment is a great game if you are into CCG game or strategy games. You could check out my site for a ton of links for this game, including a price guide for the cards of all three series.
