    The fiction of the Forgotten Realms takes place on the planet of Abeir-Toril, an Earth-like planet that is stuck somewhere between the 13th and 14th centuries.

    Faerûn

    is one of several large subcontinents on the planet Abeir-Toril. Others include Kara-Tur, Zakhara, and Maztica. Faerûn consists of the:

    • Northern Regions
    • Middle Lands
    • Southern Nations
    • Underdark

    People and Creatures

    In the Realms, the dead walk amongst the living, dragons soar overhead, gods meddle in the lives of the world's inhabitants, and several famous characters from Dungeons & Dragons can be found. These include Elminster the wizard and Drizzt Do'Urden, the famous drow (or dark elf) ranger.
