The King of Fighters: Sky Stage

Game » consists of 2 releases. Released Jan 22, 2010

Sky Stage is a vertically scrolling shooter featuring flying King of Fighters characters. Whatever they were smoking when they designed this game, you know it was pretty damned potent.

It seems the XLA game that was mentioned a little while back at Msoft's spring media event, is now off the boil, with SNK now confirming "KoF Sky Stage" as a vertical shooter arcade game.

If it proves popular it may well see a release on 360 though, there does already seem to be a load of Shmups available for 360 in Japan, and I see no reason why this in particular wont add to that number.

The game will be showcased at the Taito booth at this years upcoming Amusement Machine Show. The event will be held at the Makuhari Messe  from the 17th through the 19th of this month.

This looks like an arcade game I saw people playing at MAGfest. Though the characters were just two generic anime girls. I wonder if they just reskinned the game I saw.

That sounds like Castle Shikigami, a long running shmup series.

How's this insane? Yeah it's a bit unusual, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's insane.

Now if this game was a dating-sim, then the series lost all of its sanity.

At the end of the day they're just characters, and besides, It's not the first time fighting game characters have appeared in a shmup before, Darkrkstalkers Morrigan Aensland was playable in Gunbird 2 on Dreamcast. (and now on PSP via PSN's Gunbird 2 Remix game)
