The Last Guardian Dated For Holiday 2011

Team ICO had a little more to share with the world after confirming the long-rumored bundle for the HD re-releases of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus in North America, Europe, and Japan. Specifically, it had another game release date to share for its third project, The Last Guardian, which will ship to retailers holiday 2011.

The announcement came alongside some new and stimulating footage of the game, which you can take a gander at just below. According to a recent PS blog post, some of the scenes in the trailer are taken from actual gameplay, and as you'd suspect, this means that a lot of the video revolves around "Toriko," the large cat-bird-creature thing that The Last Guardian's young boy will interact with on a regular basis.

== TEASER ==Unfortunately, much is still unknown about The Last Guardian, and this latest footage isn't exactly the greatest a learning tools despite its behind-the-scenes opening. What can be gleaned, though, is the fact that Toriko won't be a perfect pet. Even though a bond will be forged between it and the boy, the creature won't always obey his will. Hmm, that sounds familiar, doesn't it, Yorda?

That creature is amazing isn't it.
Are these guys the most talented game designers in Japan?

Over a year away? That's really disappointing. I'm really looking forward to it, but that seems like a long time to wait.

This is looking very good. I still need to go back and complete Shadow of the Colussus some day. Maybe I will buy the new PS3 version.

That's quite a wait longer for a game many of use were expecting to be out by now. But if that's what it take to have the game how the dev's want it, than I'll gladly wait.

I really like the developer commentary they do with this game's promotional stuff. Makes it feel like somebody's work instead of a product. Also, Ueda seems like a very humble guy with a lot of creativity and vision. Hope it all works out for the team.

Can't wait to play this games. Ico and Shadow of the Collossus were an amazing experience and The Last Guardian looks to be well on that path.

ATREYU!!!!!!

Ahem.  I was a little thrown by the constant explaining of how he wants this totally imaginary creature to be as realistic as possible, but I'm intrigued.

How much longer is going to go on? Gawd I feel so sorry for you ppl....wait forever for their  Japanese but very good game, just like those other very japanese but cool games...except they are now out. Penny arcade did a cartoon on this at least a long year ago or more..either the kid gets it or the guardian does (I'm saying Guardian} and you will feel as miserable as fuck. Though I listened to the Developer..Maybe there will will be a third way..he likes the unexpected. This isn't my kind of game, but that would be honestly neat.

Same ole footage, or close like, with iridescent blue butterfly.

The Last Guardian will wear the Duke Nukem Forever mantle with pride from now on.

This is the next game I'll be getting for my PS3. Sadly, that's over a year away.

So bloody psyched for this.

#31 Posted by Hellequin (37 posts) -

A year ... ahh... so long to wait. At least there's ICO and Shadow of the Colossus to keep  us company.

#32 Posted by eightbit (123 posts) -

I'm stoked.

#33 Posted by emem (1961 posts) -

Actually "Shadow of the Colossus" is my most favorite game of all time and I don't really mind waiting a bit longer.. I believe in these guys, they will create something beautiful.

Looks so awesome, now I have to play Ico and Shadow to catch up (watched others playing them, never played them myself). Excellent marketing strategy of theirs, releasing the compilation too.
