How old are you?

considering he has doom for his avatar i'd assume 20+
However this topic is more for aged games.

aLttP is my favourite 2D Zelda game. I love the depth of the game, all the little side quests available to you and the excellent dungeon design. However, my favourite game has to be Final Fantasy VII. While Zelda tells a great story, the best stories are driven by character, and both the characters and plot in FFVII are brilliantly realised. I also love the depth of the battle system and the game's longevity. I'm not sure it's the greatest game of all time, but it's certainly my favourite.

Nope. Link would get stomped by Dukes Mighty foot

looks like some people didn't notice it was in a zelda game forum lol...

well I'd agree to this... this game brings back a lot of memories

Was this the Zelda where you could create black ice?

#10 Posted by PaperPlain (243 posts) -

Actually it's a close second next to Ocarina of Time.

#11 Posted by Ossi (1229 posts) -

Ocarina of Time is my all time favorite game, but LttP is definitely a hair away from a tie.

I dont think people are giving Oblivion enough credit. I say The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the best game of all time. Either that of FFVII in my opinion.

To many, this isn't even the best title in the series (Ocarina of Time). Although this is certainly still a fantastic classic.

Oblivion was great, but I found it burned out too fast for me - I don't really play it anymore but for LttP  I still play to this day every so often.

Favorite game of all time?

Super Mario Bros. 3

The game just totally blew my mind, and after I played it the first time, my childhood revolved around it.

A Link to the Past was my favorite Zelda, hands down. Favorite game of all time would have to be Chrono Trigger though. Which is granted since my favorite era of gaming is the SNES/Genesis era.

#18 Posted by Lemmywinks_360 (66 posts) -

either that or hl2 would be my vote.

I have to agree with the OP,.. ALTTP is the best game of all time. While every game listed here is certainly great, ALTTP set the "mold" for the classic Zelda storyline. I think a big part of it's charm is in your relationship with the minor characters you meet. Other Zelda games don't have  this dynamic. Ocarina is amazing in it's own right, but the pacing falls apart in the frustratingly confusing water temple.

I don't know about best, but it's definitely close if not. Either way, it's still my favorite. This game is amazing.

I think Legend of Zelda: Link to the past is a great game, you want to know what is another great game? its my game Robocop vs The Terminator, remember that game? that was a great game, you should buy my game.

It was definitely an outstanding game, but not the series best, 2D or 3D. the GBA and GBC Zelda's, especially Oracle of Ages, were all outstanding and can go toe to toe with LttP. the 3D console Zelda's just obliterate it. Still, LttP was one of my first video games, and I love it with all my heart.

Half Life 2 is the greatest game of all time hands down...The best visuals for the time. The most cinematic gameplay. The most compelling story. It covers every side of a great game.

How is he a noob? COD4 is one of the highest rated games of all time, it has an incredibly addictive multiplayer, and it has one of the most cinematic single player experiences in years. What? Just because its Call of Duty or  a shooter it doesn't count?

The memories I have with Oblivion are great.  Every time I think back to all the time I spent in that game I get the best feeling, and wish I could go back like I've never played it and do it all again.  Or if I hear the music somewhere it actually gives me chills.

When it comes to Zelda, Wind Waker will never be replaced as the greatest in my eyes. Although the new Zelda looks pretty promising I have to admit.

#32 Posted by Skytylz (4029 posts) -

Not even the best Zelda, that goes to Ocarina.  My favorite game of all time is Knights of The Old Republic.

Neverwinter Nights because its awesome and I spent way too much time playing it.

#34 Posted by Sander (409 posts) -

A Link to the Past is definitely in my top 10 of all time. The puzzles and thinking you had to do to get by were really ingenious. I was a kid at the time, so my perspective would probably change now, but in my memory, this game challenged me in such creative ways that most school work never did.

#35 Posted by Icemael (6312 posts) -

It's certainly the best Zelda game and easily in my top ten, but the best game ever made... I don't know.
