The Zelda you were waiting for was the one you already had. 0

Ah, the simple polygons of yesteryear.I should start by saying that it would be impossible for me to give the re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time anything less than five stars. I first played the original on a neighborhood friend's N64 when the game was first released in 1998. Being only ten at the time, and having a very limited exposure to video games, coming in contact with Ocarina was a formative experience to say the least. Since that first play through in 1998, I've played t...

A great game touched by age 0

Nostalgia can be a fickle beast. I recently purchased two remasters from Paul McCartney’s solo catalog and realized, much to my surprise, that each album held a new significance to me. McCartney, Paul McCartney’s first solo outing after the breakup of the Beatles, was one of my favorite albums to come out of the seventies. Its raw homemade production lent it a charm I was unaccustomed to hearing upon my first listen. As for the album’s predecessor, McCartney II, I felt nothing but bilious disgus...

Just buy it. There's nothing else to play. 0

If you haven’t played the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time already, you’ve eitherstumbled onto the wrong website, or you’ve been in a coma for the past 13 years.Welcome back. Regardless of what your previous history with the game may be, I’mgoing to assume that you’ve at least heard a lot about it. If you’re looking for a traditionalreview, this is not it. At 13 years old, I feel a traditional review is more than a decadetoo late. Instead, this will serve as a buying guide to help you decide bet...

A great game just got better 0

Anyone who owns a 3DS has got to be stupid not to own this. When I bought my 3DS, I couldn't get this game immediately but I'm glad I finally got it cause this is one of the best Legend of Zelda titles ever made and it's even better on the 3DS. I had a little difficulty adjusting to the 3DS controls but not so much the gameplay. It was more the Ocarina that I had a hard time with. The game looks great. It looked great on the Nintendo 64, the remake looks even better. It's still the same game you...

Holds up well, but know what you're getting. 0

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely renowned as one of the best games ever made, so how does the 3DS remake hold up? While the game does show its age, and doesn’t go without problems, it still holds up as a really fun and engaging experience throughout. The story is pretty minimalist: go to the different dungeons, beat the monsters inside, and save the kingdom. But nobody is really coming to this game for Lord of the Rings; they came for the fan...

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 0

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a classic practically the instant it was released, and it still holds up as a fun adventure today. It's been repeatedly re-released over the years, but its port to the 3DS handheld brings some substantial new changes, including ones that don't involve a third dimension. It features the Master Quest from the Gamecube version, which changes up the dungeons and has to be unlocked by completing the original game, and has various tweaks and additions that eith...

Hey, Listen! 0

Thirteen years have passed since the original release of Ocarina of Time. Popping in the tiny grey cartridge into my 3DS made me reminisce of the days I would invite myself over to my neighbor's to hog his N64. However, I do have to confess--I never beat the original version. Knowing that, my opinion should hold more value considering three-fourths of the content is all new to me.I could sit here and list all the new features the remastered version totes but I'll save you the time: it's in 3D an...

An updated favorite worth every penny 0

Time for some honesty. I originally had a more cynical tentative review about this game before I finished it. This review featured commentary about how Nintendo can get you to buy the same game over and over and over again. But after completing the game, I just had to revise it a bit. In all honesty The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a fantastic game, even all of these years later. Not perfect. But a fantastic game none the less. This 3DS upgrade to the Nintendo 64 classic allows a whole ne...

3DS owners finally have a reason to turn their system on. 0

Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.  It’s quite debatable if Nintendo may have gambled a bit too much on the Nintendo 3DS in terms of pricing and release window, but one characteristic that is never argued upon is the fact that the new handheld simply has very few games to play on it. The launch titles left a lot to be desired, and even games that were announced for the system have seemingly disappeared off the radar completely. Luckily for the few 3DS owners out there that shelled out their 250 big-ones, there...
