I don't want to ride a train or a boat, I just want to walk around. Was is bad in A link to the past? No. Whats up with Nintendo trying to implement these transportation systems. That's what the flute/ocarina/harmonica is for.

    Thoughts?

Walking is boring.  I think the train is a great idea for the DS game to give the illusion of a gigantic world where otherwise you would be exploring a kingdom the size of a small town (like the other 2D games)

Isn't this basically the "IF YOU FAST-TRAVEL IN FALLOUT/OBLIVION/BETHESDA GAMES, YOU'RE NOT EXPERIENCING THE GAME THE WAY IT'S MEANT TO BE PLAYED!!" argument in different words?

You people seem to be forgetting something:  This is a fucking DS game.  There would be no way in hell that they would even render all that distance in a way that would let you run across it.  The train is basically a narrow walkway you can travel over to get to different places in the game, giving you the illusion of a huge world.  It's essentially the same as the Gummy Ship levels in Kingdom Hearts where you have enemies and shit getting in your way as you make your way across a narrow linear path.  If it weren't for the train, the only way to express distance is how they did it in Fable 2 where you fast travel between places while being told something along the lines as "You have traveled 80 miles."  It's either the train or nothing people, and given the choice between the two, I'd take the train.

No, this is the "boats and trains are dumb" argument. He said right in the post that the flute/ocarina/harmonica are for fast travel.
