Judging by the trailer, I think this is a good possibility.  Maybe we'll finally know the true reason for the flood.  Even though, I would prefer an explanation for the flood to be on a console instead of on a hand held.

    Your thoughts?

Until they unveiled Spirit Tracks, I was into the whole timeline theorizing scene. I mean, a train and Link as a conductor? I don't even know where to begin.

I doubt it. Just because they are the same art style, doesn't connect it to the same universe. The Minish Cap already confirmed that.

I'm pretty sure they explained the Flood in the prologue in Wind Waker.

Not fully, it just sort of happened. The current theory is that Link never returned from his adventure in Termina (Majora's Mask), but nothing's actually explained.

Dude, the timeline is soooooo fucked, I don't even bother to try and place each game that comes out on it.

Seriously, they were getting so close with Wind Waker, but everything got all messed up after Toon Link's introduction.

Toon Link only got the 'Hero's Clothes' during wind waker, and the trailer shows him wearing them, so if it was a prequel he wouldn't have them. Also Tetra wouldn't have awakened as Zelda before then.

I doubt the flood would have receeded, so i think it'll be set in a new land with lack of Ganondorf.

In wind waker link is only a boy who has know knowledge of fighting, and he didn't even have his tunic.

It could still be a prequel though, and it just follows another incarnation of link.
