Hey hey,
I'm a gamer at heart, though lately I've had less and less time to play. With the holiday season coming along, I want to invest some of my free time to play an epically awesome RPG game! I do have some games in mind, all of which I either own or plan to buy. Since my time is at a premium, I will only dedicate time to one game. Problem is, I can't decide because I want to play them all. Here's the list:

Xbox 360: Fallout 3 (own), Mass Effect (own), GTA4 (own)
Wii: Zelda: Twilight Princess (own)
PC: Torchlight (plan to buy), Dragon Age: Origins (plan to buy)

Which game should I play?
All helpful advice is welcomed!

Thanks!
Aldo

I remember when all this nonsense blew up a couple years ago. I laughed then and I laugh now.

Is there still rampent fanboyism like this nowerdays with review scores? Since GiantBomb launched I've gladly not paid attention to any review score besides GB's 5 star scale.

or Zelda is Really Hard to Follow

I was thinking today about Zelda: Twilight Princess and, to be honest, I couldn't remember much about it. Then I thought that it was simply a case of me not remembering Zelda games in general, but then I started thinking about Ocarina of Time, I sure remembered A LOT about that game. Being one of the most fondly remembered games of all time, I couldn't remember that game more. So, that got me thinking I should replay Zelda: Twilight Princess (Ugh, not something I'm going to do anytime soon.) to see what I missed/don't remember. Then that got me thinking about what makes a game fun to replay. Well, no it didn't really, writing this got me thinking about that, but...Anyway what do you guys on the (insert board here) think is a good candidate for a replayable game.

I was just thinking about what games I can recall that split a fanbase of an established franchise. Here's what came to mind:

Burnout Paradise: There seems to be a major divide between those who loved the streamlined experience of Burnout 3 and those who appreciate the open world and online innovations of Paradise

Grand Theft Auto IV: The GTA 3 trilogy was one of the most acclaimed game series of last gen. GTA IV has become one of the most acclaimed games of this gen, but is also faces one of the most prolific fanbase splits. Some loved how ridiculous the series got by San Andreas, others praise the more serious nature of GTA IV.

Halo 2: Many were dissapointed by how the storyline went down, while others were too distracted by the multiplayer that set the modern standard for console online multiplayer.

Resident Evil 4: For many, 2005's game of the year came less than 2 weeks into the year. This highly influencial game reset the series gameplay with a new over the shoulder aiming mechanic and a higher focus on action rather than adventure. Some longtime franchise fans resented that change.

Every Console Zelda Game Following OoT: If there is one thing that just about every Zelda fan can agree with, it's that Ocarina of Time was an exceptional entry in the series and a landmark moment for video games. The 3 major sequels that followed it then provided some noticable cracks in the fanbase. People seem to either love or hate Majoras Mask. Wind Wakers cel-shaded art style provided a new aspect of the series to debate. Most recently, Twilight Princess has created an entirely new split between those who dug the fan service experience it strived for while others were turned off by how similiar it is to OoT and the tacked on motion controls the Wii version included.

Other Ones

Sonic Adventure
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Jak II
Street Fighter 3
Guitar Hero 3
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Metal Gear Solid 2
Colin McRae Dirt
Call of Duty World at War
Rainbow Six Lockdown
Left 4 Dead 2
Deus Ex: Invisible War
SW Knights of the Old Republic 2
Super Mario Sunshine
World of Warcraft
Final Fantasy XI and XIV
Fallout 3

After the rocky start of the first episode, HAWP, seems to make a huge turn around with this episode based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Partly what made this episode allot better was that Anthony, steps out of the way, and is absent for most of the episode, and just let's Ashly go nuts and acts like her quirky self in front of the camera.

((((Spoilers))))

After the introduction, we see Ashly playing Epona's song on the Ocarina and the way she sing it and adds her own lyrics to the song is hilarious. Most of the episode is Ashly making weird sounds and a completely random and unnecessary rapping that pops up half way through the episode could have been left out. Another hallmark in the series is a short, couple of second, end of the credits video and this episode has one of the longest. It's Ashly and Anthony re-enacting a scene from Iron Man, that was kind of meh.

Over all, the episode was a major improvement over the first one, although not the greatest episode either, it still showed that the two were starting to pick up momentum and became allot more inspired in this episode.

Score: 8.4

Art direction is not only appealing to the player to see when they check out the game, it is also a nice change from the usual "realistic" graphics.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker shocked and awed players when they saw the game take a cel-shaded approach rather than a realistic approach that teased us all when the game was first rumored. Some fans were offended by the choice of cel-shading but once they experienced the game most were blown away because it seemed to fit so well in the game. You can see the wind wisp by as you sail the open sea watching the ocean waves curl around your boat, it was simply amazing, not to mention an amazing game.

Okami was another that had an excellent and new art style. The game seemed like it was straight from an ancient water coloring book. Vibrant colors surround the wolf protagonist as he runs by lush green meadows, soft pink flowers and as you draw with your paintbrush colors burst out at you initiating attacks, create gusts of wind, draw bombs and other various tasks. It’s truly a beautiful game and definitely brought something new to the gaming world.

Don't get me wrong, realistic games are also nice. How far the gaming world has come in graphics from the 8-bit Mario is astounding and should be displayed. In Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess the game went for the realistic approach but still had some effects from Wind Waker; how the smoke plumed and a hint of cel-shading was displayed when Link was in the dark world as a wolf.

Art direction is important in a game to keep things new just as innovation. I'd like to see more games that switch different art styles during gameplay to keep new levels/worlds new and interesting.
