For me to complete every single Zelda game back to back. I'm obviously going to start with the original and play Skyward Sword last on Hero Mode. I'm pretty excited, I haven't beaten the original and I never really played the second one much. I'm back home on winter holiday and all of my friends are going back early, but I still have 2 weeks left so this is a good idea. This will probably take me more than 2 weeks. I don't plan on using a guide since I'm not going for 100% completion, but I will try to collect as much as possible. I will keep you guys posted.
The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo's flagship fantasy action-adventure series created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka in 1985, the Zelda series is the source of many revolutionary gameplay conventions, and continues to be one of the most popular and critically acclaimed video game franchises of all time.
The time has come...
You should play them in chronological order.
Yes, start out with Skyward Sword and eventually work your way down to the point when you have to play three games at the same time...
Only the main nintendo console versions. None of the GBA, DS, CD stuff. I am about to start The Legend of Zelda on my younger bro's Wii. Is it possible for me to somehow transfer that data onto an SD card or something so that I can take it back with me?
Wait, impossible? as in people have a hard time beating freaking Zelda games?Yeah, this is impossible, see you in hell.
That sounds embarrasing as hell, but at the same time the thought is making me laugh.
Don't do it! You will end up hating Zelda if you do. Be sure to at least take breaks and play a small downloadable game in between games or you will go mad.

Have you ever finished Adventure of Link? If you have then you're a stronger man than I am.

I loved that game way back then, but you couldn't pay me to play that one again.
I made it to the first Labyrinth and got my first game over. I collected the map and compass. Navigating is a lot easier.
I just completed the the Eagle Labyrinth, the dungeon that looks like the deku tree. I've decided to write down the coordinates of the dungeons in case I need to go back. I will post them here so that if someone else wants to start the game they know were the first dungeon is.
From Start
North 1 screen
East 1 screen
North 3 screens
West 1 screen
Just got the boomerang and the bow in the first dungeon and defeated Aquamentus. OMW to second dungeon. So far I'm really enjoying the original. The game is pretty difficult, but I'm sure that I'll get improve. Traversing Hyrule is proving to be quite the challenge. I need to master the combat system.

I did something similar a few years back, and only recently finished. I went through every Nintendo game ever made. It was funnnnnn.
That said, don't be worried about the first LoZ. The map becomes pretty easy to get used to after a while.
That does seem like it would be really fun. I might try it sometime, but then with all of the games I'll be missing my backlog will be huge. Do you know if it is possible to kill Leviathan and how do you get that Heart Piece on the eastern part of the map? It's on a dock in the water on the edge of the screen. I've tried throwing the boomerang at it and shooting arrows at it, but it didn't work.

I have finished The Adventure of Link, yes. But having played it so much it would be kinda weird if I hadn't done that at least 10 times now@ZeForgotten said:

Pro tip: it doesn't get much easier.
I recommend you at least look at a .gif of the world map eventually, as it will point out a couple of things you have pretty low odds of finding by yourself. Like a heart container that resides under a completely ordinary bush, which is part of an entire row of like 20 bushes. Or like the critically important shop where you can buy an item that permanently reduces the damage you take by half, which is hidden under another completely ordinary object in the overworld.
The locations of the (optional) better swords are at least somewhat possible to find on your own. By which I mean the first better sword lies in a non-hidden cave, much like the starter sword, so if you explore the whole map, it's pretty easy to find eventually. The second better sword is hidden, though, and you may walk right past it if you don't obsessively touch every single object in the overworld.
The game is pretty cool, especially when you consider what else was out at the time, but it was made back when developers made secrets/upgrades extraordinarily hard to obtain, and when gamers had an expectation that games be pretty tough and contain all manner of secret rooms to look for. That was "replay value" back then. If you want to complete the game in any kind of timely manner (and move on to the games that come after it), I wouldn't hold it against you if you decided to occasionally consult a guide after beating about the first 4 dungeons or so. The game is not particularly forthcoming with hints.
Also, it's a shame you won't be playing any of the portable Zeldas, because Link's Awakening is an absolute classic.
@mac_n_nina: Ok so I finally made it to the 2nd dungeon, got the magical boomerang, cleared it, got the magical sword, and found the 3rd dungeon.
To the 3rd dungeon from beginning screen
West 1 screen
North 1 screen
West 2 screens and then cross the bridge to the west
West 2 more screens
Down 1 screen
East 1 screen
