The first time i ever completed a Zelda game Was Twilight Princes. I didnt play a lot of games growing up, video games really didnt sink they're teeth into me until the age 16 or so. So i kind missed out. But man i tell you. there is just something about Zelda. The first time a picked up that Master Sword, just...ahhhh! I cant put my finger on it, but it just really gets to me (in a good way) maybe its the embodiment of all my childhood fantasy's in one game? But i enjoyed my time with TP. i wont dare lie and say i didnt tear up a little at the end.

The Legend of Zelda.
I've played just about all of them. Didn't really become a huge fan until Ocarina of Time, though. I guess I did really dig Link's Awakening too....

The very first. I remember finding it  inside my NES when I was 5 or so and playing it for so damn long during a week where it never seemed to stop raining. I still have that same NES and Zelda game. Think I'll play through it again.

Link's Awakening, then A link to the Past.

My first was Ocarina of Time, then Majora's Mask, then the GBA version of a Link to the Past. I never really got into Wind Waker and I really disliked Twilight Princess.

The first I played was the original on a demo unit in a Wal-Mart. I remember thinking how cool it would be to have a Nintendo, so I begged my mom and dad until I finally got one.

A Link to the Past. I used to rent it over and over again at my local video rental store.

The Legend of Zelda. That game was utterly mind-blowing back in the day. Sure, it doesn't hold up nearly as well as the later games, but I will never forget running around the overworld trying to light every bush I could on fire to look for secret doors and loving every second of it.

First single-player game I ever played, in fact. Before that it was Mario Party and watching my cousins play.

Wait, do you mean played or completed?

This.  I still have that majestic gold cartridge and everything.  Sweet game other than the incessant beeping when you are low health.

Link to the Past

The original, gold cartridge and all. Never could get past the sixth dungeon when I was a kid.

Damn wizzrobes.

The first one I finished though, was Link's Awakening. I loved the heck outta that game, one of my favorite games ever.

Ocarina on Time on the N64. It was also the last Zelda game I played.

#21 Posted by BoG (5192 posts) -

I grew up in the Super Nintendo era, and never owned a Super Nintendo, only an old NES, and an original copy of The Legend of Zelda. I never knew what I was doing, despite having played it frequently.
The first in the series I actually undestood, and completed, was A Link to the Past. The Wind Fish has a place in my heart.

Links Awakening on the Gameboy for me...i enjoyed the game back then but i was stuck for so long that i gave up on it. The first Zelda game i ended up completing (with a guide lol) is Ocarina of time.

Twilight Princess on my 1st Ninitendo console. Was a Sega fanboy.

Ocarina of Time; I spent a good amount of my childhood playing that game.

#26 Posted by CaptainTightPants (2834 posts) -

Ocarina of Time, I did tear up a little at the end. It might have been the story that got me, or it was probably the fact that I had become so invested in the world, the entire game. I played that game over the course of a year , and when I finally reached the conclusion it was heartbreaking.

The first and only Zelda game I have ever played was the first one on NES. At that time, I was around nine years old. After that, my tastes moved on to different things and I never felt the urge to play a Zelda game again.

Link's Awakening.

#29 Posted by dagas (2949 posts) -

The first Zelda game on NES, but I didn't play it until after Zelda was already out on SNES, but I was always one or two generations behind as a kid. Heck I got a Master System in 1995 when some people already had a Saturn.

The Legend of Zelda. Man I miss that gold cart.

The furthest I ever got was to the second quest (legitimately and with the name code).

This one was my first as well. Remember just getting it because the cartridge was gold... Only found out at home that the game was the shit

I played the original on my grandparents' NES. I don't really remember it, but yeah.

#33 Posted by craigbo180 (1726 posts) -

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. I think I played Ocarina before but not much.

#34 Posted by Matfei90 (1288 posts) -

Ocarina of Time.

#35 Posted by Cincaid (2959 posts) -

The first Zelda. Yep, I'm old (29). :(

#36 Posted by probablytuna (3891 posts) -

Wind Waker. I'm actually replaying it right now after six years since I last played it. The visuals hold up much better than Twilight Princess in my opinion.

#37 Posted by Cwaff (1260 posts) -

Ocarina of Time, then I filled myself in on all the previous iterations.

#38 Posted by Bombs_Away (1010 posts) -

My first was Ocarina of Time about 18 months ago. I've now finished Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass. I'm going to play Zelda 1 and 2 now. As you can probably tell, I kinda liked Zelda.

A Link To The Past

The best one as far as I'm concerned. probably even my favorite game of all time.

Link's Awakening. It still remains one of my absolute favorites to this day.

#42 Posted by paradox121 (317 posts) -

I'm pretty sure it was the Link to the Past but I remember properly getting hyped and playing the shizz out of Oracle of Ages.

#43 Posted by Jackel2072 (2279 posts) -

Well i guess i should say i did play the first Zelda when i was like 5 or 6 but i can tell you i sure as hell never beat it. TP was the first time in my life i decided to give a crap about Zelda mainly because i bought a Wii at launch. and after that i got hooked and after finishing TP i went to gamestop and found a copy of Wind Waker which was fucking hard to find at the time.

Never played a Zelda game.

#46 Posted by Soapy86 (2625 posts) -
Zelda II was the first one I ever played, but A Link to the Past was the first one where I really knew what I was doing.
#47 Posted by FreakAche (2957 posts) -

Wind Waker was the first one that I played extensively. I was born in 1991, but I didn't really get into gaming until I was about ten years old so I kind of missed out on Ocarina.

#48 Posted by Bigrhyno (505 posts) -

I am not 100% sure. It was either A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening. I think Link's Awakening. Either way, I did not enjoy it. I have played (and by played I mean a couple of hours of) every game in the Zelda franchise, but it has never seemed to click with me. I think it is the only big name Nintendo franchise I don't have any fond memories of.

Link to the Past. I had to be around 4-5 years old when I went over to my babysitter's house and played it for a short time. I didn't technically beat it till I was like twelve however.
