My favorite Zelda game would probably be Ocarina of time or perhaps Majora's Mask. What is your favorite Zelda game?

#2 Posted by Timing (619 posts) -

Come on SexyToad this thread has been done so many times.

The purists will say it's A Link to the Past.

The connoisseurs will say it's Majora's Mask.

The rest of the world will say it's Ocarina of Time.

It might be Oracle of Seasons.

Zelda. The original. I played it at age 12 when it came out. It changed the way I looked at games. It was an earth shattering experience. I spent every waking moment for 3 months thinking about that game.

#4 Posted by Wraxend (564 posts) -

Mine would be Wind Waker as it was the first Zelda i finished.

I´ve played most of them and never finished one except Ocarina (maybe, I dont even remember), I love them in theory and get bored with them in practice.

I will make this choice when I can play a zelda game from start to finish and love every moment of it.

Majora's Mask.

My favorite Zelda game is Darksiders!

Just kidding, it's Majora's Mask, mostly because I love anything that uses the Groundhog Day trope. I do like Darksiders though.

#10 Posted by Nux (2357 posts) -

Well for me it's a link to the past.

#11 Posted by WinterSnowblind (7616 posts) -

The Windwaker.

#12 Posted by Zleunamme (666 posts) -

Link's Awakening. It was the first video game I had and was packed with a Game Boy Pocket. I had great times with that game.

Darksiders... oh wait.

Oh god, I must respond to this.

Ocarina of Time was the best in terms of experience, my little mind was blown.

Link to the past because its amazing and my first Zelda title ever.

Majora's Mask because it was so weird yet so Zelda and such a mature and strong story.

Wind Waker because its the magical interactive cartoon we always wanted, amazing graphics and superb story, save for the Triforce Scavenging.

Link's Awakening was also great because it had great dungeons and a cool ending.

Links awakening. Beats all the rest in my opinion.

A Link to the Past, easily. I've never played any of the portable Zeldas, though.

#19 Posted by Sauson (561 posts) -

A Link to the Past for sure.

Majora's Mask is the worst.

You guys are gonna destroy me but...... Twilight Princess, it was the only one I had enough interest to play, and finish, I really enjoyed that game.

I'm a big fan of Wind Waker's art style and universe -- which I think are the best in the series -- but it's also a flawed and unfinished game.

If we're talking quality of experience at the time of release, I think Ocarina of Time wins hands-down, though I have so much nostalgia wrapped up in that game I'm not sure I'm qualified to make an objective call on this.

Link to the past for me.

Wind Waker / Skyward Sword.

This, but I can go with original GB version too.

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. Yeah, I went there!

No, seriously, it's probably Majora's Mask. I haven't played it in forever, and haven't gone back to it for fear it won't be as good as I remember, but it's probably the one I remember most fondy.

Zelda 2 is seriously fun though.

#26 Posted by Ducksworth (660 posts) -

I'm going to go with Links Awakening and Oracle of Seasons mostly out of the nostalgia I have for them. Recently I was a bit unsure on how I felt towards the series, then Skyward Sword came out and reinvigorated me. There is still plenty wrong with that game but there was definitely something in that game that made me feel like a kid again. If Nintendo can give the next Zelda game everything Skyward Sword had plus worthwhile sidequests and a world with some exploration then I really think they will have crafted the best Zelda game to date.

Definitely Wind Waker, but Skyward Sword was also well up there on the list, as was the original.

Another vote for Link to the Past!

#32 Posted by NathHaw (2766 posts) -

Ocarina of Time.

Even the bros in the dorm used to come down to my room just ride Epona around for a half hour. Granted they were high and just done listening to Limp Bizkit, but still.

Personally, I like the GB version; I think the whole greyscale thing enhances the dream-like nature of the game.

This pretty much mirrors my sentiments. Only I guess I need to finish Link's Awakening at some point. And I didn't dig Majora's Mask at first. It didn't click with me until I went back much later and started over from the beginning.

My favorite is probably Majora's Mask, but objectively I'd say Ocarina of Time is a better game. Objectively I would also say A Link to The Past is tied with Ocarina, but I don't like it as much as either. I've really enjoyed my time with all of them though.

#37 Posted by Gargantuan (1882 posts) -

I've never played a Zelda game so I guess Darksiders is my favourite Zelda game.

#38 Posted by SethPhotopoulos (5257 posts) -

Twilight Princess, and don't accuse me of liking it the most because it was my first Zelda game. It wasn't. Majora's Mask was my first. Link to the Past was really good as well.

#39 Posted by JackSukeru (5911 posts) -

I used to really like Zelda 2 but I dunno, I've played enough of it for a lifetime.

I feel like I need to give Wind Waker some love, because at the time I wanted so much for it to properly tie itself together with OoT and establish a timeline that I dismissed a lot of the other cool things it did. Why does the Deku tree look all different? Why are they koroks instead of kokori? Why is Ganon's pig form so silly? Why can't I dive in this water? Viewing it on its own, without comparing, was way better it turns out.

  5. Spirit Tracks

A Link to the Past.

#43 Posted by KillyDarko (1888 posts) -

Mostly likely Link's Awakening, but The Adventure of Link and A Link to the Past were also pretty awesome.

#44 Posted by JasonR86 (9697 posts) -

Ocarina because it was the first Zelda I owned and played through to completion and I'm a nostalgic person. Though Twilight Princess is probably the best all around 3D Zelda game I've played where as Majora's Mask is the most creative. I'm really out of my element talking about the 2D Zelda games.

I heard the Tal Tal Heights theme recently. I hadn't heard it for years, but the nostalgia came flowing back. Also, it and the Majora's Mask overworld theme don't get enough respect.

I agree that Twilight Princess didn't quite have the same magic (which I'll readily admit might just mean it didn't meet my impossible nostalgic expectations), and it's good to hear that Skyward Sword (which I haven't played yet) might.

This

except for being 12 when it came out.

OoT was awesome, but man the original Zelda was so completely new in playstyle and amazing it is nearly impossible to describe how exciting that was.

  • The Wind Waker
  • A Link to the Past
  • Skyward Sword
  • Ocarina of Time

My least favorite is Twilight Princess, it felt so bland and uninspired.

#48 Posted by NapTimeSleeper (330 posts) -

Either Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker.

The one where you have to hit the boss three times to kill it. It may more may not have a second stage that requires three more hits to kill.
