The Lord of The Rings Game I Have Been Waiting For 2

Let me start this review by stating that I am in no way a Lord of the Rings fanboy. Though I do love the world of Middle-Earth and I am one of those people who is a sucker for swords n' sorcery RPG games. I will do my best to look at the game's strengths and flaws in an objective manner regardless. The review will be structured as follows: Story, Gameplay, Visuals and Audio. The story is meant to run parallel to the story of the original Lord of the Rings books/movies but it is wholly unrelated t...

And By One Disc Bore You... 0

Lord of the Rings: War in the North (WITN for short in this review) is one of the worst types of games for me. The game can’t be completely awful so I write it off and move on nor can it be so good that I can’t wait to absorb every second of it; it has just the right hook for me that its completely mediocre but I keep playing it. I hate those.WITN is basically a hack and slash with some RPG elements thrown in, because as we all know the kids love the RPGs. The story puts you not directly in the ...

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North Review 0

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North takes players to an area untouched by Tolkien and the movies. The game introduces an entire new story line, a marvelous soundtrack, and fun co-op RPG action. The game also brands an M rating thanks to the savage combat system. What the game lacks is “guts.” Snowblind Studious took no risks when it came to stepping outside the box. The story is very bland to say the least, combat is very original and will get repetitive very fast, and your AI friends aren’t...

    Mr. Toilken's Wild Ride 0

Snowblind, renowned for its action-RPG Champions of Norrath, takes license with another well-known fantasy intellectual property in War In The North. You control one of three forgettably-named characters - an elf wizard, dwarf warrior, or human ranger. Definitely more action than RPG, this game is a fun but ultimately forgettable afterthought to the LotR lore that expands on absolutely nothing.Players start in some nameless battle in a hobbit shire, where the main antagonist Agundaur is searchin...

    So much squandered potential 0

This game is just straight-up busted! There really is no other way of saying it, the game is broken. You tell me a reason why here in 2012 there is an action game that does not have an enemy lock-on feature for its combat system? There is no reason for that. This single flaw unravels any aspirations this game might have had at being worth anything. However, even with this crippling blow, I have managed to trudge through the campaign to bring you the good, the bad, and the dreadful in this reflec...

A boring story and generic gameplay make this one easy to pass on 0

I was excited when I heard that Snowblind was working on an 'RPG' game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. My first sentence already contains some of my major criticisms of the game but let's do away with the good stuff first. If you play this game on a high resolution, the world's look pretty neat and actually resemble the Tolkien-esque worlds you might remember from the films. The textures are crisps and so are the models, apart from the terribly wooden faces (How can I ever get back to thos...

It does the name well. 1

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is one of the most poorly timed released games I can think of in recent history. Releasing a game between BF3, MW3, Uncharted 3 and TeS: Skyrim is like making a game and then figuratively shooting it in the foot. Sadly that is the most news worthy thing about this title and that’s not saying that this game isn’t good, because it is, good. The game play in War of the North starts out on the wonky side. You cannot run at all, only a slight jog and there is no...

Meet the unsung heroes of the fellowship 0

War in the North is a co-op hack-and-slash action game, and features some decent RPG elements, Great visuals, and an original story woven into the LOTR trilogy. Rather than play as known characters of the LOTR lore, you'll play as three new characters who had a hand in the quest to destroy the One ring. When Sauron's right hand commander starts causing trouble and attempts to recruit Dragons to aid in the impending battles, you're given the task of finding him and stopping his men from finding mo...

    Lore and Slash 0

I can honestly say I was surprised with this title. Granted it had been on my radar since it's release I was honestly expecting to be an enormous crap chute but I was surprised with what this game did have as far as content goes. The graphics are pretty glossy and are pretty well done. The framerate both in and out of combat are pretty smooth and roll well from one instance to the next. The enemies and locations are very nice and I noticed myself standing in spots and just rotating the camera ar...

    The Legend of the Fellowship's B-Team 0

Foreword: This is my first video game review in eight, long years... Will this piece be any good? Also, I have not tried either local or online co-op, and will review the game on the normal difficulty.Lord of the Rings: War in the North (WITN) a tame Action RPG with little new to offer. It tells a Tolkien story that initially cannot gain separation between itself and the tribulations of the Fellowship, but has admittedly hit its stride once the playable heroes strike out on their own. Gameplay mo...
