An expensive hobby gets a little cheaper... 1

With games not getting any cheaper, in fact, getting much more costly, the dance of trading in games for a fraction of their original price, waiting for games to be put on discounted "Greatest Hits" labels and/or settling for used copies that have more scratches then Samurai Jack after a fight has always been one the gamer was forced to dance.  Luckily, the fine folks at Valve games have given us one hell of a deal here.  In there new "game" (and I use the term lightly, because this is a packag...

PC version review, a must buy for all PC gamers! 0

The Orange Box contains 5 games that are all considered A+ titles by fans and professionals alike. The Half Life series has always had critical acclaim and the sequels HL2, Ep1 and Ep2 are no different. These three games continue the story and the gameplay to one of the best PC FPS series ever created. While there are some minor downsides to the HL2 episodes in that their rather short gameplay length and lack of any new weaponry etc can come across as boring. The emotional story, intense action ...

    Does this game Deliver? 0

This game is an amazing game and it worth much more then just 60 bucks. This game gives you 5 games in one CD. Not just 5 rushed games but 5 games with so much care put into them. Orange Box looked amazing and once I bought it I was so happy. Once I started playing it I just rushed through it without paying attention to the story or anything which lost my interest. I picked it up almost a year later and I fell in love. I went through each story slowly and precisely and I was amazed at the qualit...

The best OJ you'll have all day 0

First let me start out by saying if you don't have this game yet go and buy it now. I'll give you a minute to get it now...............................    Now that you have the game you can realize it's incredible value, delivery of quality, a multi player experience equal to the greats ( halo and gears), a inviting and impossible to let go single player game. Judging that you own a 360 you may not have played half life 2 yet and you surly will be pleased with it's transition to the console....

    Pretty much a steal. 0

Orange box has Half Life 2, HL2: EP1, HL2: EP3, Portal and Team Fortress. Orange Box is a steal for having all these games but how do the games compare? Half Life 2 is the same game released in 2005, but sadly the Xbox version and not the better PC counterpart. When playing Half Life 2 I felt closterphvx because of how the player moved and the tight platforming game. This applies to Episode 1 and 2. However the single player is good, but not worth playing again (jt's not really neccessary). You ...

Innovative and a Must Buy 6

The Half-Life series is the heart of The Orange Box. If you have not previously played any of the Half-Life series, then these three games alone are well worth the purchase of this game. I played through Half-Life2 and Episodes 1&2 within a matter of days and found myself engaged with the storyline and at times, I could not put the controller down. This sci-fi shooter utilizes the source engine as well as a physics engine that is a great addition and enhances the characters and the captivat...

The Orange Box is no doubt, a fantastic bundle of games! 0

The games that have been compiled into this bundle are the legendary Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1, Half Life 2: Episode 2. The crazily insane multiplayer Team Fortress 2 and the very weird and immersive puzzle based Portal. These five games create a wide variety of different gameplay that will excite you, impress you and make you laugh. Lets start off with the 3 Half Life 2 games of the bundle, The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself...

So much BANG for your buck! 0

The Orange Box is hands down one of the most awesome game packages I've ever bought. It's like you get a buffet of non-stop greatness. First off, you get 5 games in one! FIVE!! And this isn't one of those cheap Atari Gems  packages where you only get one or two good games and the rest are garbage. Each of the 5 games that come in the Orange box are stand alone titles and equally kick ass!!Portal is a stunning game play experience that you just need to play. Like seriously I think every gamer sho...

The Orange Box has something for every type of gamer 0

OK, it has taken me awhile to get around and review The Orange Box. So, here it is.The Orange Box includes five games in one box; Half-Life 2, Half-Life2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. The Half-Life series will offer gamers the first-person shooter genre to anyone who loves to shoot things or they just love the Half-Life series.Portal is very much like a puzzle game with mind-bending scenarios and very funny dialogue.Team Fortress 2 is for gamers who like te...

My Best Game of '06 0

Can I begin to say how much I adore this game??? I can tryHL2Though a bit old and suffering a tad from over-exposure, Half Life 2 and all it's grunty little offspring hold up incredibly well by todays standards. The graphics are good and don't look out of place on a next-gen console despite their age, the physics are better than most new-releases and the story and pacing are fantastic. HL2 has really set the benchmark for story, with an intelligent plot that empowers the gamer. Instead of feelin...

    Great. 0

The Orange Box is great, except for Team Fortress 2, it's lags alot and Valve hasn't fixed it yet.Portal is a great and fun game! I personally found the advanced maps challenging. THE CAKE.The puzzles were great!Half Life 2 is great experience, if you never played this game, BUY IT NOW!I didn't like the parts without Alyx, because I was scared of the Zombies etc.Episode 1 was the shortest, the story wasn't really good in Episode 1.I guess I wanted more G-Man.Episode 2 was better than HF2 and EP1...

Orange never looked so good 0

Orange Box is released to let us (the consumer) know that not all companies are just here to sap the life out of your wallet. This compilation consists of one of the greatest first person shooters ever to grace the pc, Half-Life 2. This port looks very close to its counter part and plays just as well. The loading screens match up much better than the Xbox port allowing for more smooth gameplay. The sights and sounds match up with those of the pc and thats exactly what we are looking for. Also in...

dogsounds reviews: The Orange Box 0

So, having played Portal, I decided to turn my attention to the other constituents of Valve's "The Orange Box": namely, Half-Life 2, Chapters 1 and 2 and Team Fortress.Firstly, let's get this out of the way: I am not about to review Team Fortress fully as I have no interest in objective-based multiplayer. So I suspect I would find myself bored by it quickly, and this would not lead to a subjective review. All I can say is that I love the look and feeling of the game, and from the experiments I h...

Pros: Excellent Graphics, Amazing Physics Engine, 5 games for the price of 1. Team Fortress will make you want to get Xbox live,Portal is mind-bending!Cons: Not much... Nothing really out there that I can talk about.Almost the Best Game Ever... If you don't believe me, BUY IT!!! I've never played a Half Life game until now and I'm hooked. Everything about it story, characters, settings are amazing. Portal, is in my opinion, the best game on the disc. It is a puzzle game in which you use portals ...

    Games of the Year 0

I had the pleasure of coming to Orange Box as a huge fan of the original Halflife but never having played it's sequel.  Halflife 2 came out at a time when I was transitioning away from PC gaming.  While I felt some regret at the time I'm glad I got to wait for it.  It looks and plays great on the 360 and being able to play the original HL2 along with the two episodes was really satisfying. It's really hard to fit everything that makes Halflife 2 great into a capsule review like this.  So I'll jus...

The Best deal ever...with one of the best games ever 0

Valve has tried something different here. They're selling Half Life 2, Half Life 2- Episode 1, Half Life 2- Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal all for the price of one. All of the games are different. All of the games use the excellent Source Engine and All of these are excellent games that will keep you preoccupied for hours. Lets start with Portal . Portal is a really cutting edge amazing game that is just plain brilliant. Portal is a puzzle game where you get a Portal gun. The gun shoot...

Valve has made us an offer we just can't refuse. 0

Maybe what Valve thought on doing was simple. They had Half-Life, a "good-ass" game like some would say, they had two expansions for Half-Life only available for PCs, and they had Team Fortress 2, which is a multiplayer game with some interesting game mechanics. You add Portal, the one exclusive barely-released game and we have a deal, a great deal. Adding such good games at a reasonable price, a price of one actually, sounded too good to be true; maybe not quite, but it was damn good. They act...

    ABE LINCOLN LIKES PORTAL! 0

What a crazy amount of content to sink your teeth into. SERIOUSLY. Valve packaged 5 games into one disc (Half-Life 2 being one of them) and you (Yes, you!) are not playing this 2007 release at this very moment!? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!  This package could have individually released each game as its own stand-alone game sold at full retail price, but Valve is an amazing company that loves their fans more than they love money. Isnt that weird?  Lets start this review at the very top. Half-Life 2. T...

A Great Collection; but outdated for 2010. 0

I should note upfront, I did not play Team Fortress 2, and I had previously played "Portal: Still Alive" so I did not play it here. I have only played Half-Life 2 and Episodes 1 and 2.  I first played Half-Life 2 on the original Xbox, and at the time found it to be a quality shooter. Fast forward probably 3 more years and I played it again on the Xbox 360. My first thoughts were that the graphics, while of course better than the original Xbox version, looked quite dated, and the game play style ...

Getting it won't make you feel remorse nor excitement 0

This game pack is a bit difficult to review because of its contents. There should be a main area of focus to consider above all the others and for me it is Half-Life 2.Half-Life didn't interest me the first time I played it since I got bored of going forwards opening doors and shooting alien crabs. I got so bored that I never finished it. Half-Life 2 doesn't fall too far away from the first game's tree either. There are hundreds of doors to be opened and hundreds of alien-crabs to shoot. However...

The Orange Box; A Taste of Excellence 1

(This is my review from my Gamespot account, I just moved it from there)It is without any hesitation that I can say that Half-Life 2 is one of the greatest games of all time. But what makes Orange Box so great? Is it just another game packing things together to get people to buy it? Or is it actually worth getting? These questions are all easily answerable. But it doesn't take somebody explaining it to get the point across. All these games in this collection speak for themselves, and quite loudly...

    Rethinking Bundling 0

The Orange Box is the single greatest deal of this generation of gaming. Bar none.I am going to throw a little bias in here right off the bat and say that if you have a computer that's up to it (which is less and less of a problem given that the source engine is no longer demanding top-of-the-line systems to run it), the only Orange Box worth buying is the PC version. And why's that? Because the best content is the kind you can get for free and the only place you'll be experiencing the Half-Life...

These games are some of the best you will play on the PC. I don't even think I have to go into too much detail here, because chances are, you already know how g...

Great value, lots of fun to be had. 0

The Orange Box is a collection of Valve Software developed games which includes:Half-life 2 with HL2: Episode One, Episode Two - collectively almost the length of two whole games. The episodes help to expand the mythology that HL2 is introducing giving you a more epic feel to the universe. Though, Episode One is just kinda "so so" Episode Two picks up a great deal more and leaves you hanging in the end. Portal - a fantastic game in it's own right. though very short, it is big on satisfying almos...

One of the things you think about when you pick up a game is the overall value. With The Orange Box, value is not a problem. Five games are all in one box for a low price, which is something you don’t see in video games that often. Half-life 2 tells the story of Gordon Freeman traversing the combine controlled city stre...

While it would seem that the player is recieving a huge deal here by buying the Orange Box - 6 games in one, neither of them are that great on their own, which makes the purchase hinge on whether you like Half Life 2 or not. The Orange Box, by Valve, is a compilation of 5 games in one box. The game are the original Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2.
