Step by step how to get any audio file format working in game

I managed to figure out how to play any audio source in the PC version of the game without the need to convert to .mp3 files (useful for anyone who uses itunes) 
 
1.  Follow the instructions here  http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20595-what-u-hear-recording-enable.html to make a recording device which hears whatever audio is playing on your PC 
2. Open whatever music player you use and start playing the music 
3. Open the game go to the menu where you would usually import files, there is an option to pick a sound source click this and pick the device you made in step 1 
4. Enjoy tripping out to Brian Adams

Any way to do this if there is no Stereo Mix or What U Hear?
