#3 Posted by AjayRaz (12427 posts) -

wow, quite a strange patch, but hey, free nudity.

#4 Posted by jakob187 (21670 posts) -

Quite interesting.  Can they actually get away with that?

Not this

@CoheedFavorHouse: No problem. For future reference, just copy the link, then highlight a piece of text that you want to use as the hyperlink. Then click on the link button (it looks like a chain) on the toolbar and then paste the link into the URL box and then click "Create Link". Hope that's understable.

@Abyssfull: I shall proceed to slap you with a salmon for that.

But its not even Good Friday! =O

@CoheedFavorHouse: Seems so. :D

@Abyssfull: I can't remember what Good Friday means but that's not going to stop me. EVER.

since when do tits get you an AO rating?
#16 Edited by Rockanomics (1150 posts) -

Both God of War games had a bunch of full on tittays. No AO.

#17 Posted by StaticFalconar (4849 posts) -

WWith Pandemic going under, they have nothing to lose so why not try this shit out.

#18 Posted by RiddleBrother (511 posts) -

Unless the "additional hiding space" is the inside a woman's vagina, I don't think it qualifies as AO content.

#19 Posted by Jeff (3577 posts) -

Yeah, the ESRB doesn't work that way. Downloads aren't allowed to alter the rating of a product.

Breasts don't warrant an AO rating. The Godfather 2 came out this year and had them too and it was M.

@Jeff: Do they rate DLC?
#22 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

Funnily enough, the site now reflects Jeff's above comments in its statement. This thread was obviously seen by the author, as it should be. Even if it does have tits that will definitely not change it to anything close to an AO rating. Godfather II, God of War, and others have had it with no problems. It is a sad day when two breasts cause a game to be unable to be sold at retailers....

It would receive the same rating regardless of the content DLC gets, games cannot change their rating with DLC under any circumstance.
#24 Posted by septim (774 posts) -

This isn't to avoid getting an AO. This is to try and screw over the used market with the one time use code. They probably realized once everyone realized how shitty their last few games were they turned around and pawned them off. I guess they want to prevent that from happening again.

#25 Posted by nanikore (2740 posts) -
@pause422: I know that. What I'm wondering is if they rate DLC content.
#26 Edited by trophyhunter (5800 posts) -

boobs don't make for AO rateings
god of war 1, 2, mostly likely 3 the psp one
godfather 2
conan
heavy rain
all have boobs and are just M

I think it's a bit early to say whether or not the DLC content is "AO worthy". I mean, sure, the article mentions nudity, but other than that it is difficult to say how explicit the material is. I wonder if this will mean we will start getting 'uncensored & uncut' patches with a new Manhunt or GTA.

It will receive the same rating as the game no matter what I believe. I think I have seen DLC before not rated at all, and rated the same exact rating as whatever rating the game its for gets..so maybe its not a must, but if it does receive a rating, it will be M just like the game.
#29 Posted by trophyhunter (5800 posts) -

DLC can't be higher than the game
hence you can't put M rated songs into rockband

It can't go out of bounds "
" If it [the downloadable] does [require altering the original product], then obviously the rating will have to change. " -MTV

The linked article suggests that DLC could potentially change a game's rating. It would just need re-branding, a la San Andreas. So I guess it would then be a completely different SKU, and therefor a different game (as far as the ESRB is concerned). But the question is, would the DLC be expandable to the original SKU of the game? Because I can see Rockstar (or someone else with crazy balls) exploiting that loophole to release an AO game.

Good. I was just thinking if you could put fucking mechanisms within Little Big Planet.

@pause422: So they could release a DLC for Petz Horse Club that adds raping and murdering and it will still be E for everyone?

No.  Then the ESRB would rerate the game to accommodate the DLC.

Except its not allowed at all as far as I know. If someone were to do something like that, they simply wouldnt allow them to release it at all. It has to be the same rating as the game.

I'm not sure about that.  The wording makes it sound like they'll allow it, but it will not only lead to the game being re-rated, but the publisher will be fined for essentially lying to the ESRB about the content in the game.
#37 Posted by Alexander (1721 posts) -
@jakob187: That's what I'm wondering, surely if the content is DLC then it would be rated AO. I didn't think MS or Sony allow for AO content over their online services...

Last time I checked, tits don't warrant an Adults Only rating.

ugh.

Once again, the ESRB does not run off a checklist of objectionable material. There is no "breasts = xyz rating"

Content, context, time of the instance, and interactivity are all taken into account.
#43 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

If that's the case, I want my Fable 3 to have some intercourse with my partner. Damn, that bitch wanted sex all the fucking time. This could open quite a few holes. Fuck yeah, let's fill those holes.

since soccer moms decided that their children should be exposed to killing nazi's and commie's, but not boobs.

Thats a little redicioulus that DLC can change the rating of a game. I think that there should be some warning for the DLC but not changing the game rating. Looks like a great game, can't wait to get it and play!
