Nope, not paying $10.for this as I did it for XMen and regretted it, thanks but no thanks.

The Simpsons Arcade Game is a four player beat-em-up popular in arcades in the early nineties.
The Simpsons Arcade Game Is Coming to XBLA/PSN Alarmingly Soon

They should just go the whole way and release an XBLA port of Gauntlet Dark Legacy. Not only is that beat-em-up repetitive and four player, it's also like 20+ hours long.
Fuck. Yes.
You forgot to mention that you can combine characters to make super strong attacks. This is one of the few beat'um up's I actually managed to beat in the arcade. Man, I could buy an original cabinet of this with the money I've dumped into them.

I piss myself with joy.
My nipples explode with delight!
My asshole prolapsed from sheer ecstasy!
Well, I got X-Men and Final Fight when they went on sale for like three dollars each, so I don't feel too bad about that.
I went to my mall last year that has the arcade machine. I didnt like it, but I still love Final Fight. Strange

Screw you Alex, I loved Bart vs The Space Mutants.
That game was fucking awful. I knew it was bad even when I played it when I was 8 or 9 years old, when I had no real discerning taste. It was that terrible.
Nostalgia aside, all of the Konami beat'em ups are pretty terrible and have literally zero mechanics to them. All you do is mash the attack button and watch your character do all kinds of crazy shit. With a friend or two and maybe a few strangers gathered 'round and the ambiance of an arcade booming all around you while you try desperately to make the mere five dollars worth of quarters in your pocket last more than 15 minutes, they were all incredible experiences. Sitting on your couch at home playing online with unlimited continues, though? No thanks.
Besides, MAME had you beat by, like, ten years.
Hey, this is great news! I was worried that this game would be lost to the bygone years of the arcades, but it's so cool to hear that it's being resurrected as a download! I have fond memories of it back in the 90s- can't wait to relive them again (inb4 nostalgia goggles, etc).
After TMNT I learned that these classics belong in the arcades. There's just not enough to them to be played at home where you can hit "continue" without any hesitancy. Arcade games are designed to get quarters out of the player. If that economic question is removed, some of the challenge goes with it.
YES!
YES!
YES!
YES!
.....................YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never thought it would happen
Also yeh I understand these games are crazy shallow. That's why I skipped out on X-men and TMNT for XBLA. However, even though this is pretty much the same game as those, this is a different FUCKING STORY. I must have this one, I loved it too much not to. And I still never fucking beat it. So many quarters....
I played the hell out of this game when I was a kid and think it's great that it's coming out for a modern platform for people to relive those memories. That said, I wish people were this enthusiastic about new products that come out. There are many fantastic downloadable games on XBLA/PSN/PC that don't sell well. We get re-releases and sequels because people will buy this up day one and ignore great games that they lack familiarity with. Show this kind of love for new games. If you want new games and fresh ideas reward the publishers and developers for more than just remakes.
Wish I could be excited about this. Having played it in arcades recently, I'ma stick to my memories.

"'Tis a fine enough beat-'em-up, but sure 'tis no classic, English."
I got that reference instantly, one of my favourite lines from any Simpsons episode ^^
D-oheth!
Me too!
My nephew and I were dumping quarters into a Simpsons Arcade game at the local pizzeria last week. Heck yeah I'm buying this. (On the other hand, I think it says it all that this is best aimed at 8 year olds.)
As long as we're talking about retro-releases encumbered by corporate ownership questions, where's my SNES Shadowrun! (Genesis Shadowrun's overworld combat doesn't do it for me.)
I used to love seeing this game animate. It was so beyond all of the other stuff I had seen at the time. I don't even care if it was any good or not, I just really enjoyed how it looked and what it sounded like. Fed it coins every chance I got.
I love my Playstation Plus account. While I don't think I ever expected to make my PS3 a device for downloadable games, I get crazy discounts and awesome freebies.
Have you seen those XBLA deals? They aren't super great in comparison. :(
What we need is some old goody 16 bit games on XBLA an PSN without any HD remakes!
Simpsons will be fun but where is
Mega Man X, Looney Toons games even Chip and Dales Rescue rangers, wait that was 8bit... Still why dont they exploit these great old classic games!
Damn you disney for not taking advantage of me and my money! WHERE IS THE LION KING!
I played the game X-Men arcade game for several hours after getting all the achievements. There's just something about it...
Anyway, buying this as soon as it comes out.
The one thing this game did differently were the INSANE, over-the-top team-up moves that could be done with any combination of characters. That was really cool. But I'm with Alex, this game isn't going to hold up as well as anyone remembers AND is going to be over way faster than anyone thinks.
Oh and the game itself seems like it was designed by people who were shown images of The Simpsons, but had never actually seen an episode. Which is kind of crappy, but kind of awesome too.
I enjoyed playing this at the arcades when I was young (there is a surprising amount of arcades near where I live that are still going today, though I haven't been in them in a long time) but I don't think it'll be the same fun experience now.
I remember hearing about a version of this on the app store with updated graphics, I wonder if it's the same here.
"And also like most other four-player arcade games that have come to consoles as downloads, this port will undoubtedly seem like a really awesome idea until you and your friends beat it in less than an hour, and then immediately forget about it like those digital copies ofX-Men Arcade,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game, andFinal Fightyou still have on your hard drive, yet haven't touched since the week you bought them."
When I was done reading that passage, I felt like Alex may have been a psychic...
This game was legendary when I was a kid. We'd pay to get into a roller rink just to play their cabinet (well, that and Primal Rage).
A few months ago I saw it in an arcade, which was set to free play. Finally, I'd be able to finish this and join the elite! You see, when I was little, I ran out of money at the last boss and watched my friend get all the glory. A secret resentment was born.
So I beat the first level, got halfway through the second, and I had my fill. It was a sad day :(
I have to side with Alex here, even when the Simpsons was a new game it was always a bizarre mess. It was so out of place for the franchise. Say what you want about game's such as Virtual Bart or Itchy and Scratchy the game, but at least they made sense within the universe. Marge using a vacuum cleaner to pummel her enemies to death is every bit as bad and exploitative, as those lame Bart Simpson T-shirts were.
