Why isn't Sims 3 on Steam?

Why isn't this on Steam? I'm really interested in this game since I overall liked the Sims 2, but I really don't want to use shitty D2D or some of the smaller services to download it. EA has the rest of its modern titles on Steam, and it seems that Maxis has no problems with Steam either since they've released Spore on it. The is the kind of game that I'm sure will sell like gangbusters to a general PC audience, and since Steam is host to the majority of the PC gamer market it would make sense to release it there. What gives?

You could buy it in a store like we've been doing for years.

@Dalai: I'm one of those neurotics that has to keep all his PC games in the same place. I also lose CD keys within a year usually.

I wonder why, too. I know Spore was released onto Steam within a few months after its initial launch. I could only assume EA would do the same with the Sims 3. Maybe when a few more expansion packs are dished out, they will release a bundle on Steam for a discounted price?

I would buy it if it was, maybe it will come on with that new expansion thats on the way.

I think EA wants people to download most of their games off their own Service, EA link or whatever.

EA probably wants to use their own store rather then Steam for a title as big as The Sims 3.

Because all the updates and user-created content for the game go through EA Download and lots of people use that now thanks to the Sims.
