Patches? Why don't they work?

I installed the US retail version of Sims 3. I then downloaded the patches for it 3 of them. I ran the first one and it told me the patch is not for the region of the game I have installed. Also the launcher says that my game is up to date. How can that be?

No idea. Ever since the last patch, I haven't been able to pick up money from my owned properties. Quite annoying to miss out on 25k+ § every week. :(
