Sooo i downloaded episode 5 today and when I went on, for some reason my entire campaign saves have reset and I'm now on episode 1 again :( my save file is still there but now it says "part 1" instead of part 4, and I've checked on my hard drive and the save is still there. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? PS I'm on 360

Damn, you really got my hopes up right there, sadly it didn't work. Guess I'll have to force myself through the first 4 episodes again...

Glitch of the Year

This happened to me when selecting episode 5 for the first time, fortunately the game still keeps track of your overall progress. All I had to do was replay the final part of episode 4 and everything was fine.

This happened to me when I went to continue my playthrough of Chapter 2. I then decided I would not play until all episodes are out or possibly not at all, really ruined my experience of the game.

Just got the glitch after playing all of episode 2 and starting 3 on PC. First it crashed and can't see the save. Went through some of the solutions, and one kinda worked, except it said that I saved Doug instead of Carly :/ Really frustrating that the entire season is out and it's still having these issues. Part of the reason I waited til the whole season was done was that I figured they'd have this problem ironed out. Clearly isn't the case. It's a great game from the time it did work, but man, it really sucks when this bug totally breaks the immersion and the story.

Lost my episode 4 save right before playing Ep. 5 due to a crash. Playing back through, finished Ep. 2 and the save just fucking vanished.

God fucking damn this game. I want to play it, but it wont stop being a pile of exploding garbage!

On the PC I have been having problems since episode 2, every episode since I've just played with randomised choices, and now I'm hoping telltale will patch it so I can have a "proper" playthrough.

I had a problem like this when I downloaded episode 3, I think I was lucky, after restarting my xbox a couple of times my saves loaded correctly.

Same thing happened to me on 360. Patched and downloaded episode five, but when I started it up I was back at episode one. I backed out to the main menu and my save file also indicated episode one, and the stat screen for every episode was blank. I was totally pissed, and thought all was lost.

BUT, thankfully, I selected episode five again from the episode select screen and everything was there. Backing out to the main menu again, the save file showed episode five and the stats screens all showed my choices.

So, if you haven't yet, try loading the same save file and starting episode five. If you're lucky, you'll be right back in the shit.

I had the same problem. I dodged this bug on all of the other episodes, but a quick reboot of my 360 and the save loaded properly. When trying to just jump to the last episode, the game would ask if I wanted to generate choices for unplayed episodes. I selected No and rebooted. Now everything is fine.

There's a lot of threads on the official support forum about this issue, and it appears that the standard response being posted by TellTale is this:

We are looking into the issue of Episode 1 starting when loading your save. We hope to have a patch for this issue soon. In the meantime, you may be able to correct this by loading your save, and then selecting the last Episode you played (Episode 5) and then during the previously on, pause your game and return to the Main Menu. Load your save, and it should auto-scroll to Episode 5 and display 'Continue'. Continuing should return you to your last checkpoint. Alternatively, you should be able to access this checkpoint through the rewind menu, so please check this first by loading your save, scrolling to Episode 5 and selecting Rewind.

A similar set of steps got me around the issue, so there might still be hope for recovering your data.

Managed to figure out that timestamping trick for saves and that weird prefs.prop syncing issue. Took me 2 hours to fix so I ended up staying up til 3:00 AM this morning playing Episode 3......

Man, those guys on the podcast weren't kidding about that episode hitting every freaking note in you. Those 2 hours spent fixing my save were well worth it.

I never had any problems with the game beside my save file saying "Episode 1 07/XX/12" in the selection menu every time I started it. When Episode 3 came out, I got scared and thought I lost everything ("It should say Ep. 2 RIGHT?!"), but by Episode 5, I just didn't care.

I would enter the save and select the latest episode and play from there. My progress was still there, but it said Ep. 1 forever.

With all these damn episodic issues, maybe they should have just released the game all at once. I like the idea and all, but if they can't pull it off I'm not sure why they hung all their hopes on it.
