Hey, Just about to buy this game and wondering if this is a game where its beneficial to play with a controller or should I stick with my pc? Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Game » consists of 16 releases. Released May 17, 2011
The sequel to 2007's critically acclaimed role-playing game, The Witcher. Players again take control of Geralt of Rivia in this story-focused adventure.
Controller or keyboard?
Try both and see what you like more. It works pretty well with both, but the menus are a chore with a gamepad.
The menus going in and out of the game are EVER so slightly on a pad, but everything else just feels better on a gamepad. Plus, the looting is supremely faster on a gamepad, you can just press A to loot everything, whereas on a mouse you have to scroll to 'loot all' and press it. Sounds trivial, but makes a big difference to the experience.
I normally play with mouse and keyboard but in the quick look they said about controller so i was wondering what the general opinion was, looks like its pretty evenly split.
@McDom: Actually, you can quick loot with the keyboard by pressing space. I actually discovered that by looking at one of the threads here, but it was a bit too late. This may have changed from the first game but you could also just hold ctrl when you loot and you won't even have to do that, it'll simply autoloot.

I bought this today and I have to agree with Ryan on the QL that the controller feels better, especially during combat.
Some things feel fine with the controllers, i just dont like navigating menus and inventory with it. So i'm sticking with keyboard and mouse.

Plugged in my 360 controller when I realized I was gonna have to roll around like Demon's Souls.
Haven't looked back since.
I would normally say gamepad trumps keyboard in most games I play on pc, but from what I experienced, the game seemed to flow better with K&M. I did notice a few graphical hickups when testing the gamepad (anyone else?). Unwillingly I changed to keyboard and mouse, found that to be pretty much the only way to play this.
No, you need to switch it in the settings. Can you use gamepad for combat then switch to mouse and keyboard for inventory management and talking to people in town?
I played with the KB+M mostly. Tried my Xbox controller, but it just didn't feel as good. I didn't stick long to it, so that might have affected my opinion of things, but I didn't feel the KB+M impaired my ability to play, so I switched back to that.
