Man, FUCK, i dunno, so conflicted.
Already played 3 times through the game.
Doing another playthrough again seem kid of too much.
Should i still do it and play it again?
gha!
It is, GOG just posted on twitter that it's available. As well as backup copies for everyone.Ooooh, I wonder if that means the GOG version has update too? Probably not because we were allowed to pre-load the patch with the last 33MB out at the same time the game unlocks (2am GMT I think). I'll check anyway... Just in case...
You can also redeem your CD key for a GOG version of the game now. If you have the Steam version you can try to follow this guideor provide them with a proof of purchase.

So it is. Servers seemed broken though as is the patch apparently... Boo :(

I'm going to set fire to my face if they still didn't fix the steam overlay.
What was wrong with the overlay? Worked fine for me.
No it didn't. It's been broken for everybody with the Steam version since 2.0 came out.
Oh ok, I only updated to 2.0 today. No biggie if it doesn't work anyway tbh.
wait, I just now realised a bunch of people will be playing witcher 2 for the first time.
It will be goddamn weird on the Witcher 2 boards.

It's not fixed*, DO IT.
(*I do not have The Witcher 2 on PC so this knowledge is purely speculative. Do it anyway.)

Indeed, we can go spoil everything!
One thing I love about Steam and Origin is that their servers can handle such releases, looks like gog.com can't right now.
I've actually been holding back a second play-through (and I bought the damn game day 1!) in preparation for this! Well timed, you magnificent bastards!

Do it. 4 hours of new content. Worth it just for that I'd say. And the enhanced lighting and possible performance improvements...
I sat and wrote information about the game's update and the availability the second it came out, and as I usually do I check if someone else made a similar thread. Right at the end of my written introduction to the Enhanced Edition a similar thread came up. A bit crushed, I immediately went into it and see for myself. My heart felt down and my chest pounded as I was quickly saddened that the person only cared to write half a sentence. In frustration I went here and wrote this.
After that brief period with myself I shrugged off, drank some water and slapped myself in the face with the repeating words "Forum". I right clicked on my document and chose 'delete'.
QUEST FAILED
I was wondering why my internet was moving so slowly in spite of my traffic monitor telling me I'm at full throttle.
Playing through the game again on DARK. Not having too much trouble. It seems to be as challenging as when I first played it (obviously I know what I'm doing now).
However, a bit disappointed the RED Engine enchantments didn't make it over to the PC version.
What the hell is the 11 gigs for? I don't have much space left on my Windows partition, how on Earth did they create an 11 gig patch? Especially considering I've heard several reports that the game looks exactly the same on PC as it did before.
EDIT: I don't mean to sound ungrateful, it's awesome that they're releasing this. Just surprised that 4 hours of content and some cutscenes are amounting to 11gbs.

It is not just the new content that is in those 11gbs. They rewrote alot of the old code for the game so now you are required to download the new code that replaces the old one. They have improved pretty much every aspect of the game. Hence the huge filesize =)

Are the graphics improved? Also, code should be a handful of mbs, not GBs. But I guess if you have to replace a lot of the old stuff it's easier to replace than patch.
I'm genuinely considering not updating it. What's the size of the game after the update?

The size is a bit larger than before, somewhat in excess of 16gb or so Id say.
Hmm I dont really think they did anything major with the graphics of the game. But they added about 4 hours of additional gameplay content and 40min of new video cutscenes etc.
I cant remember all the info, it was in a video presentation that the guys over at CDPR did
@DBHErazor: Thanks. I tried looking it up on the main site but it doesn't actually clarify what's in the PC update. It just says "100s of improvements" which to be honest sound like bug fixes.
Kudos to CDPR, this is totally cool, just doesn't seem worth 11gb of my crappy Windows partition. Maybe when I delete Skyrim I'll update it.

Somewhere in this presentation they talk about whats in the PC patch

Mostly fixes, yes, but note that the bulk of those 11gb is taken by new cinematics, quests and voice acting.
I was really disappointed by the total lack of improvements made to the gamepad support. Seems like they haven't touched it at all, while I was hoping for the same overhaul the Xbox version got. I guess my second playthrough will be made with the keyboard+mouse setup. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I just wanted to see how the game plays with a properly implemented gamepad UI.
And we still can't cycle through inventory/journal/character screens without hitting Escape. Sad.
