Nothing wrong with the combat, some people just don't know how to parry or dodge. Also, I'm using my Xbox 360 for PC controller and this game runs really smoothly on this controller layout, especially with the Xbox 360 control pad.

People hate games that have you mix things up. It does kinda throw you headlong into it, and I was a bit annoyed with it at first, but it just took some experimenting. So few people these days are willing to though. I blame games like AC2 for that. AC1 was one of those games where the combat had a lot more to it than most people realized, and then in AC2 it was just streamlined to "bash their heads in." At least The Witcher actually pushes you to do those things, because otherwise, the game IS hard. And even when you get clever and figure it out probably isn't easy but that's good.
AC1's combat was nothing but waiting for an enemy to attack and then initiating a counter attack (that's all I ever did in that game). And it still had the same issue all AC games have, which involves only one enemy attacking you at a time while the others just hang back and watch their buddy get cut up to pieces.@Kombat said:

I agree with you about the Witcher 2 combat system. I disliked it at first, I didn't know what I was doing and the game never bothered to teach me the mechanics. Then when I started figuring things out on my own, after many many deaths, I got the hang of it and started enjoying it a lot more. It literally forces you to use everything at your disposal right from the beginning, which is something the first did not do. Still, I do miss some of the thing that made the combat in the first one (mainly stances), but this was also good. Different, but still pretty good.
I don't know. Right now my rig is under powered for it on PC so chances are I'll focus on updating that. By then, the game should be cheaper, too. I really prefer playing Western RPGs on PCs while my consoles are for shooters. I know that might seem odd to some, but that's how I roll.
After playing it on my PC and seeing how gorgeous it is, I don't think I could play a console version. But I'm glad it's coming to consoles. I hope it comes to PS3 so every body can experience it. It's just a shame that the console port of the first one is probably never going to happen.
I probably would even though I already completed it on the PC. I want to see what the differences between the two versions will ultimately be.

I've switched back and forth with the keyboard mouse and gamepad, they both play pretty damn good. Control wise, I'm optimistic about the optimization. As for how it looks, I'm sure it will look fine. Fingers crossed.
Since I already bought and played the PC version, probably not, at least not for full price. However, I have no problems buying the game on consoles in general since the game plays just fine with a controller (which is how I played it on the PC anyway). Obviously there will have to be graphical compromises, lack of mod support, paid DLC, etc. but the overall experience will probably be very similar.
