Dark Fantasy At It's Best on the XBOX360 0

What games often fail to do these days is challenge our expectations and views of things we have by now began to take for granted. To experience that which we already know, in a completely new way we've never seen before is truly a gift of its own. The Witcher 2 does exactly that through weaving an intricate tale of Geralt of Rivia, a famed witcher caught up in a series of royal assassinations, out to find the murderer and perhaps even piece together parts of his broken past. The world we see in ...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Review 0

Sequels really are double-edged swords. It’s absolutely heart-wrenching to see the sequel of a game that had so much potential make the same mistakes its previous installment made before. But when a developer addresses the mistakes made in the previous game while improving everything else, the world looks just a bit better. I’m happy to say that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings belongs in the latter category. The Witcher 2 picks up a few months after the end of the first game which if you don’t ...

Pure Witcher[y] 0

Before we start, let me mention my Witcher credentials: I have read all Witcher books, the entire saga seven times, and completed the first game in every possible way. Obviously the first thing you will say is that there is no way this review could be unbiased. That may be, however I am trying my best to be objective here.  The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in the sequel to the 2007 groundbreaking release, The Witcher. The games are both based on a world created by Polish fantasy author, Andrzej...

One Hell of an RPG 0

Keep in mind this is all personal opinion. The Witcher 2 is a story driven RPG, that was released for PC and sadly is going to be released for Xbox some time whenever. I bought the game day one on steam and wasn't able to stop playing, the graphics are some of if not the best I've seen this year, and the story is not only captivating, but done right. There's alot of RPGs that try to factor in a good story, but then just do something terrible, IE: Dragon Age.  The original Witcher was an immersiv...

The White Wolf returns 0

CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher was an ambitious game. It was hindered somewhat by its fair share of glitches and performance issues - relating to both hardware and abysmal voice work and English translation – but more than anything it showcased the Polish developer’s love for Andrzej Sapkowski’s source material, and their aptitude to not rest on their laurels. Almost a year after its original release in 2007, The Witcher received a re-release, fixing the problems that plagued it the first time aro...

biggest surprise of the year so far. 0

The Witcher 2 reviewed by Doc D StrangeThe Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was a huge surprise for me because I knew about this game and the Witcher franchise and heard such great things about them but I never had a PC capable of playing them. So when I heard that CD Projekt Red (the Polish developers of the Witcher series) were talking about making a port of Witcher 2 for the Xbox 360 I was hyped to say the least. After CD Projekt Red kept saying they were still working on a port for the Witcher ...

The Path of a Kingslayer 0

NOTE- This review is for the release day version through patch 1.65. CD Projekt Red has announced version 2.0 with new content and refinements to several of the issues addressed below.RPG designers should study what CD Projekt Red has accomplished with The Witcher 2. In the almost four years since they released the original Witcher, they have built a detective story wrapped in a mature fantasy where choices beget choices from the second you start a new game to the credits roll. The Prologue start...

The Witcher 2 - Beyond all expectation. 0

The Witcher was a flawed game, and ill admit from the start that I never finished it, it wasn't because I disliked the game just certain things happened that prevented me from ever going all the way, but the atmosphere and character clicked from the start. I have to go back now, and finish the first, and I am so compelled because its sequel is not only one of the best RPG's ever made, but one of the best games. The Graphics    Stunning, with a decent gaming PC this game shines - on a above pa...

The enhanced edition of The Witcher 2 is an awesome port on 360 0

It is surreal how fast time flies. It’s nearly a year since I bought a new PC to play The Witcher 2 on full settings. I personally felt that The Witcher 2 was robbed from winning the best RPG of 2011. Everyone seems to have given Skyrim the vote, but all that game did was give players vast areas to explore which were never truly that gripping. The Witcher 2, on the other hand, had much more engrossing combat that was challenging, improving over the original game in every way. It also had better ...

Potentially rewarding, frequently frustrating 0

The Witcher 2 is a dark fantasy action-RPG. It is brilliant. And it is terrible. The sequel to a much smaller budget game from CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 2 is a sizeable, visually impressive adventure. You play as Geralt of Rivia, the eponymous Witcher. By trade, witchers are monster hunters; powerful, supposedly politically neutral warriors on the Path. Geralt is no exception, with a self-professed loathing for politics. Despite his best efforts, Geralt winds up in the service of kings and other...

Witcher 2 Review 0

The Witcher 2 is a narrative driven action RPG by Polish developers CD Projekt Red. To be reductive, it contains a lot of action-like RPG combat and deep mechanics common to Bethesda games, but is also extremely narrative driven to the tune of something Bioware might put out. Over the course of the game, much of the Witcher's many turning gears become an immensely enjoyable machine, though it jumps to a rough start and could use a more enjoyable combat system. I did play with the Combat Rebalanc...

Everything you want to know about "The Witcher 2"...and more. 0

“The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings” is from the developers CD Projeckt and published again by Atari, same as the first installment of the franchise released in 2007 was. The Polish developers have based and made the game in heart of the famous Polish novel “The Witcher” and still follows the same protagonist. Sophisticated gameplay, mechanics, environments, character customization, and other great features are all attributes that make The Witcher a fun and riveting adventure to undertake. Almost ...

The perfect sequel. 0

The Witcher was one of the biggest surprises of recent years. A small polish developer struggled for almost 5 years and finally released a precious, hidden gem, one that does not come around very often. The incredible intrigue, set in the world created by novelist Andrzej Sapkowski in the Witcher Saga, was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had with an RPG. And although plagued by a few technical issues and horrendously frequent and lengthy loading times, the game had heart. You coul...

The Witcher 2 - What a Journey! 0

Let me start by saying that I find The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to be superior to The Witcher in almost every way. One minor annoyance drug on with me through the entire game. When I first played The Witcher shortly after it came out in 2007, I fell in love with this series. I had desperately hoped there was going to be a sequel to The Witcher, and when I heard the news about a sequel, suffice it to say, I was excited. I was in a very long anxious wait for it to release, and it exceede...

So Close, Yet So Far 0

The first Witcher was something of a flawed gem. Developed by the small Polish studio CD Projeckt RED, it followed the exploits of one Geralt of Rivia, a famed Witcher who starts the game suffering from amnesia. While the translation was spotty, the character models were overused and certain sections of the game were hard to play through, there was something about it that grabbed the attention of almost everyone who played it. The developers continued to tweak the game, with massive overhauls th...

The Witcher 2: A Joy to Experience 0

It would be wrong to provide praise to The Witcher 2 for any single element alone. This game combines fantastic storytelling with fun, challenging gameplay, and unparalleled presentation to form a truly fantastic experience. The story follows Geralt of Rivia through the turmoil of the Northern Temerian Kingdom in search for the kingslayer and answers about his past. This is the only thing that can be said for certain. This game’s story can play out so differently from player to player that my opi...

Ambitiously Fun 0

The Witcher 2 caught me by surprise for two reasons, one I was surprised by it’s release date as I hadn’t been following the game at all then realised it would be out in a few days and two it is one of the few fantasy RPG I’ve ever truly enjoyed.Anyway on to the review, first of all I never played The Witcher 1 but The Witcher 2 does a great job of setting everything up. You play as Gerault, a Witcher which basically means he is a mutant who wields two swords and cast a variety of magic, he solv...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings 0

CD Projekt RED has brought their acclaimed PC RPG series, The Witcher, based off of the Polish fantasy books from the 1990’s, to the XBox 360 with their latest installment: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. This marks the first time that many gamers will get the chance to meet the titular character Geralt of Rivia, and the game spares little time in getting the player introduced to his world. My gut reaction to the game is to say “It’s like a Bioware game, but...” this would however be a simple...

"The Witcher 2" Miraculously Makes the Jump to 360 Unscathed 0

"The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" is known as one of the greatest RPGs to come out in the past decade, if not one of the best PC games period. Now it aims to take that title on the Xbox 360, and for many it will have hit it's mark. For those who aren't familiar with the franchise, The Witcher games are action RPGs set in medieval times where you assume the role of Geralt of Rivia, also known as the White Wolf. He is one of the titular witchers, humans who have been mutated and trained specifica...

WITCHER 2 = AWESOME 0

Witcher 2 was the only PC only game that I really regret I couldn’t play. Sure the CD Projekt RED hinted on the possibility of making the console version but it was nothing concrete. I could only listen to my friends as they praise the game. Now that the game is finally out on XBOX 360 I can tell that my friend weren’t just teasing me. In short, the game is a great RPG from a talented team that all polish gamers can be proud of. But what’s so great about it? First of all:STORYThis is the most im...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings 0

I really liked a lot of what The Witcher did, but some issues with its pacing and technical prowess prevented me from loving the game. This year's sequel isn't flawless, but it does address some of those problems, and really cements the series as one of the premiere action RPG franchises in gaming. Not every change was welcome, but I think overall Assassins of Kings is a better game than the original. The game begins not long after the first ends, with Geralt protecting the king of Temeria during...

Worth all of your money 0

"The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" is the new hardcore action cRPG from Polish studio CD Projekt RED, set in the Witcher Universe, created by the Polish author ‘Andrzej Sapkowski’. It is the sequel to the crittically acclaimed "The Witcher" from 2007, from the same studio. The player takes control of a Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, as he is interrogated by Roche, a commander of the special forces of Temeria, the kingdom in which the beginning of the game is set in. Geralt has been wrongfully accuse...

CDProjekt pulls a rabbit out of the hat in this superb sequel 0

It's tough to eclipse a sleeper hit like The Witcher, the 2007 RPG of the Year which introduced gamers to the brutal world of Andrzej Sapkowski and his most famous creation -   Geralt of Rivia: monster-slayer extraordinaire. A sequel to an ambitious title like that is normally extremely difficult to pull off, but luckily RPG fans are in for a treat. The sequel picks up right where the first game left off, with Geralt now in the employ of King Foltest as his personal bodyguard whilst the good ki...

2 swords, sorceresses and potions. 0

The first thing I keep hearing from a lot of people in the games business is "Witcher, oh that's that crazy PC RPG, right?" Sure, the first Witcher was exactly that and after playing through that game I couldn't run around like a madman recommending everyone to play that game. It was a good niche title and I think the developers at CDProjekt are okay with that, especially as it has sold over 2 million copies by now. The sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, is a much more ambitious project....

One of the best RPGs to come out in years...I'm not joking. 0

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings is the second dark fantasy role playing game from CD Projekt Red that is based on the novels written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.  It's a beautiful game from a technical standpoint and Geralt's tale of finding the Kingslayer and involving himself in the politics of the world at the same time is so well written, that every decision you make doesn't feel like the "wrong" choice and flows so well until the end that you forget that this game can change dramat...

The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition Xbox 360 Review 0

The definition of a Role-Playing Game (RPG) is where players assumes the role of a character through a fictional setting. Fictional setting can be of any style such as an alternate reality, space, or even a different look of modern times. The most popular setting is fantasy which are bound by the typical stereotypes (dwarves, elves, use of magic , a greater evil that must be stopped), but in the case of The Witcher 2, those stereotypes are turned on its head. This is a dark world with a lot of p...

Ain't no work like Witchers work. 0

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings defies all expectations from a game made in the modern era of video games. It's unforgiving, doesn't hold your hand, is surprisingly deep, and weaves a narrative so tightly woven; it makes Bioware's Dragon Age 2 blush in utter embarrassment. The Witcher 2 thrusts you into the life of Geralt of Rivia, a genetically modified human whose main occupation involves monster slaying. Witchers are relatively rare and mysterious and as such, are not looked upon favorably b...
