Well, that's a bummer. I've never been into the witcher games either, but it sure looked neat. I'm not really surprised though.

FUCK.

My knee jerk reaction was to be really bummed out, but this is a good thing. With how ambitious they are planning to make the final game I feel like CD Project should take as much time as possible.

Same here and it gives me more time to upgrade my PC.

This is the first thing that came to mind. I'm super glad that I don't have to buy a new video card until next year.

I kinda forgot this game was even supposed to come out this year.

#8 Posted by Seppli (10251 posts) -

I expected as much. With how huge their game is supposed to be, I guess it's a good thing. Hopefully this means it won't suffer from a disappointing and rushed feeling final act like The Witcher 2 does.

I guess they're also banking on the fact that the hardware install base, both of capable enough PCs, as well as PS4s and Xbox Ones, will be tens of millions stronger by 2015, especially if they shoot for a Holiday season release. In 2014 it'll be like a combined 10-15 million potential customers on new gen consoles at best. Plus again that in high end PCs. Where-as that market will likely more than double in size by 2015.

Damn. My most anticipated game of 2014.

#11 Posted by joshwent (2218 posts) -

Geralt just has to meditate a little longer...

#12 Posted by phrosen (147 posts) -

But I just bought a computer this year.

So now there's 0 good games in 2014 with this pushed back and East vs West cancelled. I guess we have more Dota all year then.

#14 Posted by EternalVigil (240 posts) -

That sucks, was looking forward to it. Oh well now I have more time to finish the second one.

#15 Posted by SingingMenstrual (327 posts) -

Of course they put half the team on that CyberFuck game scheduled for 2015 and now the third Witcher has to be delayed.

Fiiiiine.. I'm sure the delay will make it even more polished and amazing. 11 months is not a long time.

Given how we'd heard relatively little about this game so far, I'm not entirely surprised. But, as I say every time something gets delayed, they can take as long as they want if it ultimately makes for a better product.

#17 Posted by gaminghooligan (1448 posts) -

They can take as much time as they need.

#18 Posted by Dallas_Raines (2161 posts) -

2014 did feel a little soon for something so ambitious.

#19 Posted by Encephalon (1267 posts) -

Welp. At least I don't have to upgrade my PC for another year! Also CDPR can take a much time as they god damn well please. I'll be here.

#20 Posted by Vinny_Says (5712 posts) -

Witcher 2 wasn't my cup of tea because of the level design and Witcher 3 seemed like it would be more open world. Oh well I can wait, Dragon Age 3 looks promising at least, maybe that could tide me over until then. When was their Cyberpunk game due? Also 2015?

#21 Posted by JeanLuc (3586 posts) -

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointment, but those guys should take as much time as they need to make that game awesome.

#22 Posted by Vanick (332 posts) -

I'm kind of bummed but I expected it. I'd rather they take their time and not rush it.

#23 Posted by chrissedoff (2109 posts) -

Dragon Age better pull through. I played through Neverwinter Nights again recently for a lack of good fantasy RPGs to play. I need something new.

Bad news: 2014 just became a pretty sparse year in terms of promising new releases, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Good news: This will probably mean that Witcher 3, which by all accounts sounds super ambitious, will be released as a tighter, more complete product, and that is nothing but a good thing. Plus, it gives me more time to finally getting round to playing Witcher 2.

#25 Posted by Darji (5294 posts) -

Sad to hear. But a good thing on the other hand. I will be able to enjoy Dragon Age 3 more since I can not compare it to witcher 3 at that time. And later when Witcher 3 is released I can say how much better Witcher 3 is^^

#26 Posted by Palmlykta (226 posts) -

I'll gladly give CDProjekt another year, gives me time to finish Witcher 2.

#27 Edited by Hayt (292 posts) -

@topsteer: i'm in the same boat as this guy. More time to save for a new gpu.

I welcome delays. Rushed games are always bummers

#28 Posted by Fattony12000 (7456 posts) -

Sweet, I'll be able to afford a GTX 880 by then!

#29 Posted by onyxghost (309 posts) -

I'll wait for you Geralt.

#30 Posted by Wacomole (820 posts) -

Well that now gives me ample time to maybe pick up the first 2 in one of the Steam Sales between now and then and see what all the fuss is about.

Delayed to polish it further is a good thing.

Delayed because "we're going back to the drawing board" is bad.

There's a lot riding on CD Projekt Red with the Witcher 3. This game could possibly close the studio if it doesn't sell well, so it makes sense for it to be as polished as possible. They almost lost it after Witcher 2 (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-06-seeing-red-the-story-of-cd-projekt).

Yeah it looks like it's going to finally be time to upgrade my single GTX 470 at the end of the year in anticipation for Witcher 3. Big fan of the the first two.

#33 Posted by Nightriff (5096 posts) -

It sucks but for me personally I'm glad because it gives me more time to play the first two, I haven't wanted to play them for years now but just keep pushing them back but I want to knock them out before 3's release. I do want to do the Vinny treatment and read the book before I play the games also so I have a lot ahead of me.
