How to get a Silver sword?

I'm in chapter II at the moment in the outskirts before Vizima, I'm having trouble getting all the materials I need to get the blacksmith to forge me a silver sword. All I have is a SUPER expensive chunk of meteorite i bought from the guy who asks you to kill all of the monsters that come out of the lake at night, I forgot their names. Any idea where I can buy more meteorite or fire ore?

if there's an alternative to getting one please help me out XD

I just got the game when it was on sale via Steam. I haven't had much time to play it so I'm not even as far as you. I'm barely past the tutorial stuff.

Bought it at the steam sale aswell, but I just got Dragon Age so now that has kinda taken over, But I think I got past the part your talking about without a steel sword.
