The World Trade Center was two massive towers in Manhattan, New York City, which were an icon of the economy of the United States. They were constructed in 1973 and were a symbol for the western world, appearing in several notable films, TV shows and games.
On September 11th, 2001, the World Trade Center was destroyed by two airplanes by a group of 19 terrorists in an effort to destroy the American economy. This culminated in the deaths of 2,977 victims and was ultimately the cause for the War on Terror campaign launched by U.S. President George W. Bush.
