    Thinly Veiled Disguise

    Concept »

A disguised character whom nobody within the fiction finds suspicious, but whose real identity and/or intentions are quite obvious to the player.

    Short summary describing this concept.

Usually used as comic relief, thinly veiled disguises are so bad at hiding the identity of someone that even a blind man could see through them. Often used by the bad guy, this disguise usually consists of a fake beard, moustache or a mask. What makes thinly veiled disguises so silly and dumb is that everybody except you, the player, believes in them. A popular modern example is Team Fortress 2's Spy class. When the Spy is disguised, members of the other team see him as a perfect duplicate of whatever class he has disguised himself as. Members of the Spy's team can see that his disguises are actually incredibly flimsy, consisting entirely of a paper mask over his face with a picture of the head of the chosen class drawn on it.
