Games where the characters are 2D bitmap images (sprites), but the environment and scenarios are made in a 3-Dimensional space. This technique was commonly used on consoles like the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and Nintendo DS. Many 90's First-Person Shooters also used this technique.
The ability for a player to control the motion and direction of the in-game camera.
In some situations, the default camera quickly switches to a different angle for a specific action. An example of this is when a first-person game shifts to third-person view for a rolling maneuver.
Games where the player character is constantly running.
The Evolution Engine is developer Digital Extreme's in house created game engine. The first game to use this engine was Dark Sector.
It's common in games, especially third-person shooters, for the player character's reloading animation to merely mime the motion of reloading, instead of actually doing so.
First-Person is a vantage point that attempts to simulate looking through a game character's eyes. It is most commonly found in first-person shooters, racing games, and visual novels, and to a lesser extent in other genres, such as RPGs, 3D platformers, and adventure games.
Some games feature the ability to switch the gameplay camera perspective between first and third person, either as an option or as a gameplay element.
The National Security Agency is an agency that is responsible for analyzing and gathering foreign communications and intel. The NSA is also responsible for keeping the US government's own network and communications secure.

Any character you can control in a game is a Player Character (PC), as opposed to a non-player character (NPC), which is a character that can only be controlled by the game.

A term used to describe the flow of action in a typical action game, where the pace is pre-defined to feature fast action and require quick reflexes. As the name suggests, these are games where the player character can run and shoot at the same time.
Shoulder Swapping Aim is when players can push a button to change which shoulder the player is aiming over with a weapon.
Valve Corporation's proprietary game engine that debuted in summer 2004 with Counter-Strike: Source and later that same year with Half-Life 2. It may be worth noting that the first Source game released a full 2 weeks ahead of Counter-Strike, and that was Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
A series of arcade system boards and graphics engines developed by Sega to produce advanced, three-dimensional, sprite-scaling graphics. Capable of scaling/rotating thousands of sprites, Super Scaler produced the most advanced sprite-based graphics, from the Sega Hang-On in 1985 to the Sega System 32 in the '90s. It was an early form of 3D texture-mapping.
An alliance of nations who opposed the Axis powers in World War II. They included the USA, the United Kingdom, the USSR, France, and many others.
Unity is a multiplatform game development suite, designed from the start for the ease of creation. It's completely free to use with a pro version available for more advanced features and export options.
War is a series of organized conflicts carried on by force of arms between two or more nations or groups. Whether it never changes or has already changed is up for debate.
WASD, or WADS, is the most common and often the default setting to move the player character in computer games with a first or third person perspective.
Lasting from 1939 to 1945, The second World War was a conflict between the Allies and the Axis. It was the most devastating conflict in human history.
A devastating future war in many game's narratives. Some games take place in a post-World War III setting where humanity struggles to live with the consequences of WWIII, while other games are centred around preventing global warfare from ever happening.
