Thomas Bass has a varied history prior to working in the video game industry.  Since coming into the inudstry, he has worked for Acclaim and 2K Games.  While working at 2K Games, Tom has been the marketing vision behind several games including several iterations of the Civilization franchise (notably the Civ Anon from Civilization IV) and BioShock.   
He has spoken about his marketing efforts on BioShock & BioShock 2 at the MI6 Conference.  For BioShock, the talk covered the 5 rules of Marketing BioShock.  For BioShock 2 he and Matt Gorman discussed the challenges of creating an engaging campaign for such a beloved world as Rapture
Trivia note: There is a drink called the " Tom Bass", created by Jason Bergman in honor of Tom during their time working together at 2K Games out of the New York office.
