Hopefully THQ stays in there, oh wait, they don't publish any good games, whatever then.

Wow!

Riveting.

I remember this guy from Crash Team Racing interview in PSM, nice guy, good change for Bilson!

Poor Danny Bilson. He signed so many cool people and games to THQ. To think that those projects may never see the light of day because of uDraw...

Indeed.

Rubin sort of looks like 1990's Billie Joe Armstrong in that picture

#58 Posted by Ronald (1304 posts) -

Hopefully his first act is to let Volition do whatever they want with Saints Row 4.

So will the next THQ game will be a Cart Racer?

Saint's Road.

...

I'll be here all week, folks!

And they've released three Saints Row games so the timing is perfect!

Hmm.

I like Rubin. Hope this works out.

#61 Posted by FuzzYLemoN (1600 posts) -

Isn't THQ crashing and burning? Good luck with that.

Part of me would feel totally satisfied if Saint's Row 4 had a straight up kart racing mini-game, and like straight up mario kart style shit was going down and your dude was just reacting to it.

Wait, what?

#64 Posted by MrKlorox (11185 posts) -

First thing to do: assign 4A Games an open world Metro project.

And it should be early enough in the development cycle to make the switch if they so desire!

Okay, first things first: Does Jason Rubin have a hot daughter?

Hopefully this will help THQ out. The guy has an impressive resume, to say the least

#68 Posted by DukesT3 (1853 posts) -

I like this guy.

#69 Posted by PenguinDust (12414 posts) -

I don't know. Platformers seem to be rather dead these days. Still, he can't do any worse than the last guy.

#70 Posted by Parsnip (1068 posts) -

That's cool.

I wouldn't call it crazy though.

#71 Posted by Dalai (6876 posts) -

So he's basically the captain of the Titanic just after the ship split in half. Good luck.

#72 Posted by RobotHamster (4156 posts) -

Man that's pretty awesome, good for Jason. Hopefully this'll be the start of good things for THQ.

#73 Posted by Trillian (36 posts) -

Last few months have been pretty hard on THQ, but hopefully with a new president leading the ship it lead to better things for the company...I Hope. All the best tho.

#74 Posted by sthusby (382 posts) -

Really don't like that guy. Also, he's way into the freemium model, so expect big changes from THQ in the near future.

#75 Posted by blacklab (1475 posts) -

As long as he keeps the sweet, sweet Saints Row goodness flowing, I'm on board.

#76 Posted by Iodine (532 posts) -

As long as he keeps saints row all sorts of kray kray i cannot complain

#77 Posted by UnsolvedParadox (1852 posts) -

This could be awesome, in Naughty Dog I trust.

#78 Posted by Tru3_Blu3 (3151 posts) -

He's so fucked.

Important question. Eminem does.

@MormonWarrior: *lil shrug* I prefer Danny Bilson's.

I actually never figured out why THQ was in the shits in the first place. I feel like they publish a ton of really great games.. Are they just messing up completely on the business front or something? I mean.. They've arguably released the best RTS games of the past decade (CoH and the DoW series), and they have lots of.... actually, scratch that. Did a wiki search for all the games they've published... I see now why they're kinda boned.. Jesus..

Their games sold fine. It's the 1 million+ uDraw tablets they have sitting in a warehouse somewhere that almost bankrupted them. Sold well on the Wii, bet hard on it also selling on the 360 & PS3. That was a lost bet.

When does he hire Andy Gavin?

Ugh. Business jargon. It's says so little that it might as well be the sounds of dogs barking excitedly.

The sound of Naughty Dogs barking excitedly?!

#84 Posted by Otzlowe (337 posts) -

What the fuck, THQ? Seriously.

This is a roller-coaster that my heart just can't take.

#85 Posted by amardilo (107 posts) -

I'm surprised Danny Bilson has left THQ as I thought THQ's core division was actual producing good games. There were some games that weren't that great but a lot of THQ's core titles were pretty good.

#86 Posted by Vortextk (411 posts) -

This picture looks like Dave. I WANT DAVE TO BE HEAD OF A FUCKING GAME COMPANY OH MY GOD.

#87 Posted by Zippedbinders (980 posts) -

This is insane, last I heard he was doing facebook games with Gavin, now he's fucking running THQ? My heart can't take this.

#88 Posted by Hugh_Jazz (327 posts) -

It seems like the last thing I heard of Rubin was that awesome DICE keynote in 2004, where he advocated for the talent taking control of the industry and getting their due instead of giving publishers and marketing all the power. Then he fell off the radar for 8 years, and now this? Colour me intrigued.

Man I loved that talk at DICE, it made the man something of a game development hero to me. "The fist is not a mistake in these slides."

#89 Posted by CactusJack (142 posts) -

If this gets us more Saints Row.......then yes.

Also, you'll be playing a bandicoot in all things.......

#90 Posted by dropabombonit (1473 posts) -

This is surprising. I was reading a book about the history of games recently and it sounds like he was burnt out by the early 2000s and didn't want to work in the game industry again

#91 Posted by R3DT1D3 (148 posts) -

Danny Bilson seemed to always "announce" things that weren't actually true or so far off that the teams didn't want to talk about it. He seemed nice but speaking to the gaming press and staying on script were not his forte.

Curious to see what's to come.....curious I says!!!

When people say leverage why do i hear blackmail :S.

#94 Posted by dvorak (1495 posts) -

Hey man, Danny's gotta eat.

#95 Posted by chillwinston (8 posts) -

Let's hope Naughty Dog keeps up with their high standard from Uncharted.

#96 Posted by speedracer719 (15 posts) -

I hope this helps THQ in the long run

Could you blame him? That company was going the way of the warrior.

A new WAY of the WARRIOR would be Pretty RAD indeed...though fine tuning the 1st games controls & re-releasing it out on XBL & PSN would be a pretty cool move as well.
