Alternatively: Why the fuck do Zelda fans hate Tingle?
 
With the recent Skyward Sword hubbub I started thinking about Zelda , and my mind turned to Tingle pretty soon. (I don't mean....uh...shut up!)
 

Tingle is rad.

Probably because of the CHILD MOLESTER vibe that emanates off of him at all times.

I would love it if at one point you play as tingle.  
 
And he makes weird noises the whole time.

He seriously creeps me out.

I don't much care for Zelda games, but Tingle's a hoot. 

I propose they replace this Mr Tingle with a Map vending machine that doesn't speak.

I don't know.
 
He's really not as creepy as most fans make him out to be.

I'm indifferent when it comes to Tingle.

That game is bitching. Too bad only us members of the master race ever got it.

I think Tingle is pretty funny. I especially like that they've made him kind of a creepy, greedy, power-hungry dude in The Wind Waker and some of the other game.

My distaste for Tingle didn't happen all at once. Probably the biggest mark against him is the part in Windwaker where you have to pay him something like eight billion rupees to translate some maps so you can sail around for hours fishing for Triforce pieces. This part is not optional if you want to beat the game. And if you talk to the other guys on the island dressed like him they say some disturbing stuff like getting kidnapped and being forced into labor. I don't know how you can view him as anything other than a greedy, misguided, asshole after a scene like that.

His character design is also not very good, although that's more of my personal taste than anything else. The end result is that he's pretty annoying. Running into Tingle doesn't ruin a game for me, but it's more like "how much time and money is it going to cost me this time?" other than "Hey, Tingle, high five!"

Didn't he first show up in Majora's Mask? Maybe it's part of the fanbase's weird distaste for that game.

I love Tingle, how can you hate a fat middle-aged man that wants to be a fairy?  Tingle is my reminder that, "Yo, these Zelda game are still mad Japanese, yo!!!" 

He's cool in Majora's Mask, but he's goddamn thief in Windwaker.

That's not my reason. I fucking loved MM but when I was younger he always creeped me out.

I really like Tingle, and I live in the UK and have sunk hours and hours into Tingle's game, its a pretty decent game and gives a lot o backstory to Tingle. They explain why he is always after Rupee's and why he wears what he wears. It also makes you feel sorry for Tingle and explains why he is a pretty mean guy in Wind Waker.

He's kind of a freak, but he doesn't freak me out any more than those big-eyed kids in JRPG's and such.  Have you played a 3D Final Fantasy game?  I played FFXIII for about 2 hours and then I was sure the FBI or RCMP were gonna come breaking down my door for playing that shit.

I can't remember if I particularily liked or disliked Tingle's character in the past few Zeldas, I do hate that they used recolors of him in Wind Waker though.

There should only be one Tingle.
