This week's Midweek Madness sale on Steam is Titan Quest Gold for $5.
I'm a big Diablo fan and I still play Diablo II every now and then, but I have never tried Titan Quest. I am aware that there is a demo, but it gives me an error every time I try to play it (which seems to be a common problem after doing some searching online).
So basically, is this game worth playing? I've heard some mixed things about it and this sale seems like a pretty good bargain.
Titan Quest

Titan Quest is an Action-RPG set in ancient Greece, Egypt, and Asia filled with creatures and characters from both history and myth. The gameplay is heavily reminiscent of the Diablo series.
Steam Sale: Titan Quest / How Is It?
It looks like Diablo in a way. Was thinking of getting it myself. Well if it's anything like Diablo, then it should kick copious amounts of ass. Now you have just reminded me how great Diablo 2 is. Think i will install it now and start again. Man i love that game.
I bought this over the Holidays sale around New Years. Still haven't played it, but I bought a bunch of other junk that has distracted me more as well...
I love Titan quest and you get the expansion to which fixes the mayor bugs of the original so yeah it is a good buy.
" Just got it. Thanks for the feedback duders. I should love this game then. "Enjoy it! It's a pretty long game, so if you need help figuring out what class you're gonna get the most enjoyment out of, you might want to take a look at this. Shows all the possible outcomes of all the various class builds. (Can't remember if the game shows you all that up front when creating a class)
Anyone know if people still play this online? I was really interested in Torchlight but the lack of multiplayer really put me off. Going through Diablo 2 with other people was a blast. Either way, I'll probably end up buying it if it's similar to D2.

I believe you can only play via private servers, as the company that developed the game shut down and there is no further support for it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Titan Quest is a hell of a game, especially for $5. I think it's the finest Diablo clone to date, and I especially love the ability to choose a second class.
Think of it as a Diablo clone which uses Clash of the Titans for narrative. It's pretty good and there are many mods available for it.
I still have a bunch of games from the Holiday sale that I've still not finished. As well as many games I got during the D2D turns five, $5 sale, which this was a part of. I passed then and still think I should pass now.
But it'll be a whole year before Diablo 3 comes out.... so grrr. I did recently get the D2 expansion and haven't even touched it yet; let alone finished the main D2 campaign. Shit I dunno.
A friend of mine got it a few months back. Is the multiplayer as fun as Diablo?
Well after a little googling, it seems the game never had closed servers similar to Diablo 2 on Bnet. It's all peer to peer so there was a good chance of joining a game where people were hacking so the online play never took off. Bah. Oh well, it's $5. I'll buy anything similar to D2. I'll DL some sweet mod and stick to SP I guess.
Titan Quest > Torchlight, and IMO Torchlight is better than Diablo II. It has amazing visuals, and it's epic long for that sort of game (the game plus expansion can take 40+ hours to beat on normal difficulty). The only downside that I've found with it is the maps aren't randomly generated, but that's literally it.
I've only played Titan Quest for about an hour, but I'm really enjoying it. I have yet to try online play, mainly because every time I try to connect to a game it says there is an error.

How could you go wrong for $4.99? My list of unplayed Steam deals is getting longer and longer. I will play them one day haha.I know exactly how you feel. I've gotten a ton of Steam games due to amazing deals, but I only play a handful of them.
Y'know I liked Diablo and Diablo II. I also really like Titan Quests story and gameplay, but I can't force myself to finish it. I always get bored for some reason. I don't know what it is.
I enjoyed the game, but it didn't resonate with me the same way Diablo and Diablo 2 did.
Maybe I was playing the game wrong, but I always felt like I wasn't making enough gold to support the amount of potions I needed, despite selling loads of loot, and I ended up having to stand outside of combat, waiting for mana/health to regen.
That being said, it's Skill Trees were fantastic, and it's removal of scrolls and replacing them with anywhere portals were a fantastic addition. I didn't have to manage any of that, and really appreciated it. Also, fighting Prometheus is was freaking sweet. When i saw the giant cyclops, and the name, I was tickled pink with 10th grade Ancient History nostalgia.
I thought about buying this the other day and wasn't sure if it was worth my time. From the looks of this thread I'm going to go pick it up right now. I loved champions of norrath and torchlight but barely played diablo2. I can't wait for diablo 3 but maybe this will hold me over until then. Torchlight was really fun but it didn't really hook me in like I thought it did. Probably because I played a vanquisher running around explosive shotting things into Oblivion. Fun at first but gets a tad boring after a while.
I have it (& Immortal Throne) and loved it. Definitely worth a few bucks if you like that type of loot-driven action RPG.
