The FMV are a surreal commentary on the daily drudgery of everyday life and the complex issues surrounding modern race relations.
I've gotten to Week 3 so far in this game and I would back this explanation (the first part for sure, at least). It's also getting kind of difficult, gameplay-wise.
2. Japan doesn't have the same hang ups on homosexuality like we do in the west so they tend to tease people with that stuff without ever really going anywhere with it.
3. It's a fucking FMV about one chick who doesn't like waiting in line and another who goes crazy? while matching colors represented as people.
4, Fucking ninjas.
All that adds up to buy the game to support this kind of... brilliant game making.

no but they do usually pretend it doesn't exist (or if it does exist it is training for a real heterosexual relationship)
also if you're saying that homoerotic subtext is absent from western culture then you're just being absurd
