Is Sam Fisher Canadian?

I know Micheal Ironside is Canadian but I was just wondering whether the character Sam Fisher is Canadian. I vaguely remember it being mentioned once in one of the games but I can't remember, I may just be making it up.

Due to Michael, he SOUNDS canadian, but he fought in the Desert Storm with the US, so I assume he's american.

According to the first novel, Sam Fisher was born in Towson, MD, where he still lives.

not that i know how the american military/intelligence works but i would assume he would have to be an American for him to have the job that he has/had.

Can't you be born in Canada and get an American Citizenship, or do you have to be purebred American?

Tom Clancy is involved right? and Sam Fisher is the hero of the game, so Sam Fisher must be American

...maybe he was born there, moved up here, got his Canadian citizenship and then returned south? Heh.

@xyzygy:
Just FYI, you can totally be born in Canada, have a Canadian citizenship, and go to the US and get a US citizenship. Unless the rules have changed after 9/11, I believe you can still own dual citizenship as well, among other different US/Canada citizenship types and what not.

He's neither Canadian nor American. He's made of pixels bunched up together

You're thinking of Solid Snake. I could be confusing his origin with Wolverine's, but I vaguely remember hints about his birthplace from MGS 1. Anybody help me out? As for the topic, I think its clear Sam is from the states, even if the novel isn't necessarily canon, or maybe it is. Alls I know is that I'm REALLY enjoying Conviction.

You have no idea how close you just came to a back alley beatdown from dudes in black bodysuits who smell vaguely of maple syrup.

@heatDrive88:
You can, but I can't see a man with Dual Citizenship being at such a high intelligence positions with two citizenship. No one will know where his loyalties will be.

Sam Fisher was born in Towson, MD, had a daughter, became a Navy SEAL, did several missions for the US government including fighting Iraqis in the 1991 Gulf War, raiding a bank in Panama to dig up dirt on Manuel Noriega, fighting in Afghanistan and more.

Sam's voice actor Michael Ironside, on the other hand, was born in Toronto, so maybe that's why you think he's Canadian.

Yes, and the only reason he kept working special ops for the US military is because they asked him politely.

You can totally be canadian and get a US Citizenship and join the military, however being in a high security environment such as Third Echelon, you bet your ass that every single person in that building is pure born Citizens of the United States of America.
