It came to me in a dream this morning

Sam Fishers daughter isn't really dead.  It's all an elaborate plot to get Sam to do something or something for someone...I havn't been keeping up with this game so much. I thought some of you may want to share in my prophecy. Anyone else thinking this?

Um, they basically say that in the trailer. "One hint about your daughter, and you dove back into this."

Well, I figure if you really want to know, pick up the book. THAT might tell you (or it could have a different story)

Here's my take on what the plot should have been:

Conviction is several years after Double Agent, after he kills Lambert and after his 20 year old daughter died. He marries someone else because he's running from the NSA or whatever and gets a new daughter and tries to start a new life. His daughter gets captured, then he has to get back in the saddle in order to get his daughter back, after years of running. Then he figures out that they took his daughter because they needed his help for some national security emergency, ala the EMPs going off, and that was the only way they could get his help (His daughter might not be dead though).

I'm quite certain it's been reiterated that he is after Sarah's killers, I.E his daughter from the first few games, and the developers have confirmed it in interviews (the one here on Giantbomb dot com in fact).

So unless he's both trying to find Sarah's killers, and find his new daughter, I am doubtful

I think it would be better if Sam was just hellbent on revenge and a total badass and his daughter was actually dead.  I don't want a story where near the end his daughter is alive and he's all happy and everything's cool.  I want him to go back and kill the people that are giving him information about his daughter's killers for bribing him with tips instead of just giving him the full information after he kills his daughter's killer.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's a flashback sequence to Sam messing up some home invaders, flashfoward to his teenage daughter getting run over by a car (seen at beginning of Double Agent), flashfoward to him tracking down her killer.

Perhaps I should use the immortal words of Sam Fisher,,,

I think that the tutorial video everyone is so confused with is just a flashback sequence and Sarah is... *ahem* "Deader than Elvis."

I don't think you called, it's been speculated since DA that his daughter was never really dead but a cover up to force Fisher to stay with NSA.

Don't know why but had the idea of Third Echelon faked his daughter's death and then recruited her to do the same thing Sam used to do.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure she's dead for good.
Now it's up to (SPOILER ALERT):

Why is Grim firing at Sam Fisher ?

She needs to make it look good on the surveillance cams so noone suspects her of helping a terrorist. Haven't you seen any action movies? :(

You're actually playing his daughter. Sam was the one who died. She couldn't handle the grief, went insane and now thinks she's her father.

Probably Sam killed his daughter and was so grief stricken by it that he created an entirely new personality and was incarcerated in a mental institution whereupon his doctors construct an elaborate role play in order to make him find the daughter's killers, and it finishes with him...
