Well i tried Double Agent, and just like any other Tom Clancy game i've played, its too realistic and im the kinda guy who gets thing wrong alot so i always make mistakes and dont really enjoy myself... so i didnt like it.

Is Conviction gonna be a bit different since its not as military-ish as Double Agent or do u expect it to be the same ?

Edit: the Tom Clancy games ive played are Rainbow Six Vegas 2,  Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1  &  2

No one likes double agent, it's from a different team, ubisoft shanhai. They are equilvent to the treyarch of the call of duty series, they are aweful. Ubisoft montreal makes conviction, it should be alot better and alot more fun. I think you would enjoy it because there is alot more action in the game and new gameplay mechanics. I mean chaos theory was really good, not double agent. Fundementally the gameplay should be the same, except enhanced with new features.

I disliked SC Double Agent as well, so you're not the only one. I dunno if you'll like Conviction more.

It does seem like Conviction will be less military-ish then Double Agent though, seeing as how Sam completely leaves Third Echelon and goes rogue, of sorts.

You should try SC Chaos Theory, I highly recommend it. It's the best of the Splinter Cell games so far.

Many people, including myself liked Double Agent.

As for the question at hand.  It depends, I mean the game seems to be redoing everything about the previous games.  So if sticking to the shadows was never your thing you should be able to get some enjoyment out of Sam Fisher going a little more Rambo.

I don't see how anyone liked Double Agent. The game recycles the same small, confusing, uninspired fucking JBA level, no less than 4 times, and it had almost none of the cool ambiance or grittiness of the first 3. I absolutely loved Chaos Theory, but Double Agent did nothing for me.

I hope, and expect, SC: Conviction to bring Splinter Cell to its former glory.

How is it being Captain Obvious if you questioned whether or not Ubisoft Montreal was making Conviction and I said yes, they were? How am I the oblivious one here?

Well, what i hated about the Tom Clancy games ive played (mentioned in the edit in the first post) is that they're too realistic, which means you count on your smarts and only your smarts, and like i said i was born with the skill to just be on the wrong page and get things wrong, so i need the minimum amount of direction to pull things off...
If you're saying that you hated Double Agent (cept for you br3ad) then thats good news for me, i'll try to get Chaos Theory ..

I have no problem with stealth or quick action, i just fuck up when u just throw me out there and expect me to do it right all by myself, i hope Conviction wont do that to me..

@HitmanAgent47: what? Double Agent was a dam good game

If you didnt Like the previous SC game then you will most probably like this game, it seems to be giving you a ton of options and moving away from the punishing stealth from the previous ones.

Hmmm. Yea, uh... well, the whole point of Tom Clancy games is that they're supposed to be realistic. That's really where their appeal lies.

Yes. It's like modern Assassin's Creed.

@Delta_Ass: I was trying to say that if ubisoft montreal instead of ubisoft shanghai made it..if, then the game is automatically better. Maybe I should of mentioned ubsoft shanghai too in the same sentence. It could of been communicated better I guess.

I know ubisoft montreal made it, we all do.

That is correct- Splinter Cell games are meant to be highly realistic stealth, in contrast to games like MGS, which are sort of 'arcade-y'. I really love the locales in the first 3 Splinter Cell games, too. In Pandora Tomorrow, there was an unbelievable sequence where you are dropped onto a train, and you have to infiltrate it, at one point climbing under the train to avoid detection while it's moving. Double agent had none of those.

As I already mentioned, there were 4 missions that took place in the same tiny level, which were 30 minutes each, where you can use almost none of Sam's moves (it's basically a series of minigames), and where you can't even run. Hell, two of the DA levels took place on a ship. Two different ships, one frozen, one not. Great.

If you have any interest in stealth, and you don't mind slightly dated graphics, play Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (I think it still looks passable, on the PC). It's excellent. And if you don't like punishing deaths, just quicksave often.
