    Over at the Game Informer hub for Tomb Raider, which is the closest thing there is to an official site, they posted some new screenshots today that show some gameplay and interesting mechanics at work. They're also appropriately gritty for the realistic, violent theme they're going for. Head on over to the site for more.

    Anyway I dont wanna be that guy, but as someone who works in 3d I guess I have to. What kind of blood is she bleeding that it doesn't smudge or soak off at all in water? And they very clearly reuse the same blood texture on both arms. But again, this is just someone working in 3d suddenly realizing he won't be able to just enjoy things anymore cus Im always looking for this shit now. :-\

    @ryanwho: Same here, I can't look at any game anymore without dissecting it apart and finding repeating patterns, or seams or anything like that.

    But really, I'm still reserving judgement until I see a significant game play demo or, even better, a Quick Look. I would guess I've got half a year until I see anything close to that.

    Wow, Lara looks messed up. I think there's really room here for them to pull off a good but grittier version of Tomb Raider.

    Maybe it's just me making weird associations, but does the blood drippage on her biceps look like the Dethklok logo?

    Either way that's the only thing I like about that particular texture, but the rest of the blood textures, whether it be hers or another party's, look pretty nice even if they should be washing off in the rain/puddles even if they were dried and crusted onto her skin at some point.

    Lara Croft has never really been an interesting character to me, but I'm not entirely sure this is the right way to fix that problem.
