It seems (if this rumor is right) that it's the right direction for the Tomb Raider series. The previous game, while being good were not a bit dry.

I dig her new look. One can actually take her seriously.

So are they going to name it The Legend of Lara: Raiding Princess?

#54 Posted by buft (3298 posts) -

i'll definetly consider this if it ships with the coop

#55 Posted by tourgen (4228 posts) -

hopefully it isn't all above ground and there are tombs to raid and puzzles to solve.

You had me at "Weather Effects"
Seriously though, this sounds like a really good direction for the series. About time a game themed around exploration actually got back to...exploring

Sounds fantastic... on paper.

#59 Posted by SomeGuy890 (122 posts) -

I like the concept.
Hopefully it's good.
#60 Posted by Dodongo (89 posts) -

Concept art sort of reminds me of Warrior Within...

Sexy, sexy concept art.

Sounds strange and interesting at the same time.

Why do I get the feeling they were playing Minecraft when they came up with this?
In fact why does the idea of a Tomb Raider/Minecraft mash up give me a boner?

Sounds very Arkham Asylum-y. Which makes me super glad.

#67 Posted by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -

Metroid styled Tomb Raider gameplay, set on a mysterious island with survival playing a key role? If the game actually was as good as that sounds, holy fuck, that would be wonderful.

#68 Posted by Lazyaza (2136 posts) -

Would be kinda cool if Lara Croft finally became a respectable interesting character and was in a game that plays well and isn't rooted in design from 2 generations ago.

Open world Tomb Raider.... a.k.a MineCraft

#70 Posted by Levio (1781 posts) -

Lara Prime actually sounds like a really good idea.
Also the 2nd image looks a lot like Kate Austen from Lost.

well count me interested.

Sounds awesome. Could just be the game that gets me back into Tomb Raider. I havn't played a Tomb Raider game since the one that involved you running around the mansion while being stalked by the pedophile looking butler chasing you around the house with wine, grunting and shit.  He was one creepy ass bastard D:

Open World Tomb Raider? I am down with that.

Will she poop in real-time?

#75 Posted by dussssstin (43 posts) -

I'm excited for Tomb Raider again. They did it with the downloadable game too.

What is this, the fourth reboot? I loved the first Tomb Raider, but all the rest went down hill from there. This game could be cool. Adding "open world" to anything makes me interested.

I love me a good open world game!

"  And we're not talking strictly food and drink survival here. According to the sheet, this island happens to be home to "mysterious enemies" that will hunt Lara as she apparently attempts..."
Hmm... Lost you say?

Sounds violent. Could it be mature? ;)

Uh, we're not talking about this particular feature right now, but you can look forward to more announcements concerning this as we get closer to E3.

The only Tomb Raider game I've ever played was Tomb Raider: Legend, and I didn't feel compelled to finish it.  It felt more James Bond, than an actual spelunking game, even though you did get to explore some Tombs in it.
This actually sounds very intriguing, though.
#87 Posted by Rayfield (2097 posts) -

No thank you.

Color me excited!

one could hope.

This is exactly the kind of game concept I want to see more of.  Open-worlds where there's lots of room more emergent encounters based upon loose objectives.

#91 Posted by Overwatch (267 posts) -

This fact sheet including those images leaked last year. I don't know why is this news again, there is nothing new in this info. It is exactly the same fact sheet from July 2009.
But I am still super interested in this kind of Tomb Raider. Looking forward!

Second.  The only reboot they've done this far is when Crystal Dynamics took over.  Unless you count the recent downloadable game as a reboot, but it was pretty similar to the Legend series in a lot of ways and was more of a stand alone/spin off affair.
Like someone else pointed out though, none of this information is new, it was all leaked last year.  Sounds pretty interesting though, while I liked the Legend series of games..  they suffered a lot from being in Uncharted's shadow.  Moving away from it more is definitely a good idea.

Grand Theft Lara.

Red Dead Raider
#95 Posted by BombKareshi (996 posts) -

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me, except for one thing... Did they have to make it "Tomb Raider"?
Not a fan of reboots, seriously. Work with what you've got!

#96 Posted by Maccoy (23 posts) -

Sounds good to me :)

This actually sounds pretty damn cool.
Though I'm now fantasizing about an open world Tomb Raided from Rockstar. Oh man, gimme!
