Tomoyo is a recently transferred second year student at Tomoya's school and is one of the top students of the school. Although she is a year younger than Tomoya and Youhei, she does not show them respect as her seniors. Tomoyo's goal is to become the student council president. She is a close friend of Misae who was the student council president in her student days.
Tomoyo is a powerful fighter and is famous for her fast and powerful kicks. Her main target is Youhei as an act of self-defense. Tomoyo also displays a strong motherly nature and places the needs of others above her own.
2 years ago in Spring, Tomoyo's parents underwent a divorce. Her brother, Takafumi took it upon himself to risk his life to fix their familial relationship. Takafumi threw himself into oncoming traffic and lost his legs. His family was devastated by his sacrifice and became closer. Takafumi was happy that they could achieve his goal. At the hospital, Tomoyo brought him to view the cherry blossoms.
Later, she heard that the cherry blossoms near the school was planned to be leveled to make way for construction. She wanted to preserve the trees so that she could view the cherry blossoms with Takafumi to celebrate his recovery. She heard that the student council president has the power to do so and decided to become the student council president.
Early school life
Tomoyo was acting as a vigilante who roams the neighborhood at night beating up criminals, thugs, and delinquents. No one could remember her face but her strength and beauty became legendary. After she transferred to Tomoya's high school, she decided to turn over a new leaf. Rumors followed her there and delinquents from the neighboring engineering high school tracked her down to fight against her.
Tomoyo was first seen beating up delinquents from the neighboring engineering school at the school gates. Youhei was interested and invited Tomoya to meet her at the nurse's office. Tomoyo insisted that it was self-defense. Youhei insisted that Tomoyo is a guy, reasoning that a girl cannot be that strong. The next day, Youhei challenged Tomoyo to a fight and she knocked him out in 1 kick.
The following day, Youhei challenged Tomoyo to another fight and she executed a barrage of 8 kicks. The next day, Youhei attempted to expose her as a guy. In return, Youhei received a barrage of powerful kicks from Tomoyo and Tomoya explained that Youhei assumed that she was a guy. Tomoyo was shaken and dragged Tomoya aside to have him prove that she was a girl. She explained that she wanted to leave her old life behind and to become more feminine. She also wanted to become the student council president.
The next day, Youhei revealed that he had fallen in love with Tomoyo and he wanted to confess his feelings for Tomoyo. He received another barrage of kicks. The Judo club members noticed Tomoyo's strength and invited her to join the Judo club, which she refused. Later, the Judo club members were still begging for her to join but Tomoya sent them away. Tomoyo thanked him and befriended him.
Tomoyo visited Misae and requested advice to secure the presidency.
Nagisa told Tomoyo that she wanted to start the drama club. Tomoyo wished her luck and revealed that she wanted to become the student council president. Nagisa, Tomoya, Nishina, and Sugisaka voted for Tomoyo and she won the presidency. Tomoyo then promised to do everything in her power to help Nagisa form the drama club. Tomoyo also revealed that she needed prescription glasses but she usually doesn't wear one.
Tomoyo decided to straighten up Tomoya and Youhei and visited them early in the morning every day to drag them to school. She also started visiting them during lunch breaks, much to Youhei's dismay. One day, Youhei decided to lead Tomoyo to face some delinquents from the neighboring engineering school. Tomoyo recognized the road and was anxious about Youhei's intent. Tomoya suspected Youhei's intent and decided to bring Tomoyo away from there. Tomoyo thanked him.
The next day after school, they discovered a group of delinquents from the engineering school who were looking for Tomoyo. She and Tomoya lured them to the school yard away from other students to engage them. Youhei appeared and revealed that he led the delinquents there. A teacher noticed them and Tomoya covered for them saying that they were practicing a battle scene for a drama play by Nagisa.
Tomoyo voiced her intent to be the student council president. Tomoya voiced his desire to spend more time with Tomoyo because she will be too busy to do so as the president. The list of candidates for the presidency was posted up on the bulletin board. They later discovered that there were people who have written on the list trying to defame her. Tomoya tried to comfort Tomoyo in class after school and a teacher discovered them. Tomoya threatened the teacher to not expose their time together to preserve Tomoyo's reputation but Tomoya got suspended from school for 3 days.
Tomoyo decided to visit Tomoya's home to cook meals for him. She wanted to meet Tomoya's father, Naoyuki but Tomoya became furious and ran away. He later explained his situation with his father and Tomoyo apologized. She promised to spend the remaining 2 days having meals with Tomoya in his father's absence.
The next day, Tomoya waited for Tomoyo after school and discussed the rumor regarding their after-school romance 2 days ago that was spreading in the school. That night, Youhei invited Tomoya to school and pointed out that more defamatory writings were added to the candidates list.
On May 5, Tomoya went on a date with Tomoyo in town. She explained her motivation for wanting to become the student council president. Tomoya decided to help her. The next day, a fresh candidates list was posted up. Kyou heard the rumors about Tomoyo legendary strength and demanded a duel. Tomoyo refused to fight back explaining that she had turned over a new leaf and instead offered her friendship.
Later, Tomoya brought Tomoyo and Youhei to challenged the baseball club in order to boost her reputation and her chance to claim the presidency. They won the game and news of their victory spread in school. He then sent her to fight in Kendo to further boost her reputation. Tomoyo won the presidency and Tomoya experienced a conflict in emotions.
Tomoyo then became too busy to spend time with Tomoya. She headed the preparations for the School Founder's Day and invited Tomoya to enjoy the festival with her.
During the School Founder's Day on May 11, she wore a bear suit. Youhei tried to remove the head to expose her but she gave him a barrage of kicks, and her kick combo was extended by several people. She tried to share an ice-cream cone with Tomoya but was called for duty. 2 days later, the counselor mentioned that Tomoyo's dedication to her position was unsatisfactory.
A week later, the counselor told Tomoya that he was a distraction to Tomoyo. Tomoya decided to put their relationship on hold. Tomoyo was devastated and blamed her busy schedule but Tomoya insisted that he wished for Tomoyo to pursue her goals and ambition. Tomoya and Youhei returned to their delinquent lifestyle.
During the Winter holidays, Youhei returned to his hometown of Honshu to look for a job. Tomoya managed to find a job as a construction worker. Finally, 8 months after their break-up, Tomoyo approached Tomoya explaining that she had successfully protected the cherry blossom trees. Tomoyo declared her love for Tomoya and they continued their relationship.
In Spring, Tomoyo attends her third year of high school and her brother Takafumi has recovered and enters his first year. Tomoyo and Tomoya showed Takafumi the blossoming cherry blossom trees that she had preserved.
Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life
Tomoyo After starts with Tomoyo explaining that she is narrating a story from long ago.
Tomoyo had relinquished her position as the student council president in order to spend more time with Tomoya. Tomoya moved into an apartment and Tomoyo would visit him everyday to make breakfast for him. She would have dinner with her family from Sunday through Thursday and accompanied Tomoya through the weekend. Tomoyo also taught Tomoya to cook in order for him to live independently. Takafumi noted that Tomoyo only acted feminine around Tomoya and she hit him to send him away out of embarrassment.
For the first week, Tomoyo and Tomoya shared an intimate relationship and Takafumi would conveniently witness them. Tomoyo became infuriated by her lack of privacy but Tomoya and Takafumi paid her no mind.
On July 7, Tomoyo discovered Tomo at Tomoya's apartment. Takafumi explained that she was their father's illegitimate daughter. Tomo woke up and accepted Tomoya as her father and Tomoyo as her mother. Tomo explained that her parents broke up after they fought and that she knew about the Sakagami family. She explained that her mother sent her to Tomoya's apartment to meet her father.
Tomoyo and Tomoya agreed to have Tomo stay at Tomoya's apartment. The next day, Tomoyo and Tomoya escorted Tomo to kindergarten. Her teacher knew about Tomoyo and revealed that Tomo's mother is related to the Sakagami family. She explained that Tomo's mother, Mishima, is mentally unstable and had abandoned Tomo. Tomoyo realized that Mishima had disowned Tomo and left her in Tomoya's care. She sympathized with Tomo and became attached to her.
Tomoyo bought a bear and panda plushie for Tomo and played with her. She insisted on living with Tomoya to take care of Tomo. Tomoyo suggested that Tomoya adopt Tomo but he has not reached the legal age to do so.
That Saturday, Takafumi wanted to install a computer at Tomoya's apartment. He convinced Tomoyo that she could help people over the internet. He then taught her to use the computer and to communicate with people over the internet. Tomoyo enjoyed the transparency and anonymity of the internet. That night, Tomoya revealed that he had met Mishima and that she wanted photos of Tomo. Tomoyo was disgusted at Mishima but Tomoya begged for her permission to allow Tomo to meet Mishima.
The next day, Tomoyo followed Tomoya and Tomo to the park to meet Mishima. Tomo rushed over to hug her. Mishima simply apologized for being a bad parent and wished for her to have a good life then left. Tomo was left dumb-founded and Tomoyo hugged her, promising her happiness.
Tomoya brought Kanako to his apartment. Tomoyo and Kanako revealed that they knew each other. Tomoyo tried to keep Tomo's story secret from Kanako but later agreed to explain everything.
Tomoya noticed that a man was looking at Tomo when he dropped her off at the kindergarten. He later received a challenge letter from a delinquent directed at Tomoyo. Tomoya decided to keep it secret from her. Later, Tomoyo revealed that a man tried to kidnap Tomo. Tomoyo bought a picture book and read it with Tomo.
That night, the delinquents launched fireworks as a signal for the fight. Tomoya went in Tomoyo's place and returned injured. Tomoyo treated his wounds. The next day, Tomoyo's mother revealed that someone had tried to kidnap Tomo. Tomoyo suspected that Tomoya's injury is related to it but Tomoya insisted on taking the matter into his own hands. Tomoya warned the delinquents to not harm Tomo.
The following day, Tomoyo reported that no one approached Tomo. That night, the delinquents used fireworks again and Tomoyo suspected that it was related to Tomoya's injuries. 3 days later, Tomoya had fought and won against all the delinquents. He returned to his apartment and found that Tomoyo and Tomo weren't there. He suspected that the man at the kindergarten wasn't a delinquent.
Tomoya later found Tomoyo and Tomo at the park. Tomo was playing with a girl and her father was with her. Tomoyo explained that the girl missed Tomo because they could no longer play together after Tomo moved to Tomoya's apartment. Tomoya then collapsed from his injuries and Tomoyo held him.
On July 20, Tomoyo advised Kanako to confront her mother. Tomoya realized that Takafumi lost his legs and Kanako's parents broke up 3 years ago. Tomoyo revealed that Kanako's father was the coach of the track team which Takafumi was a member of. He passed away 3 months after Takafumi lost his legs. Tomoya decided to hear out the rest from Takafumi but Tomoyo explained that he was extremely sensitive about it.
The next day, Tomoya challenged Takafumi to a typing competition in order to defeat him and have him explain. Tomoya then spent the next 4 days practicing typing and finally bested Takafumi by 3 points. Takafumi then explained the whole story and Tomoya relayed it to Tomoyo. Tomoyo confessed that she knew about his nightmares and promised to make Takafumi and Kanako happy again.
The following day, Tomoyo suggested that Takafumi join a marathon and he suspected that Tomoya had told her. Takafumi spent the next 2 days training. That Sunday, Takafumi entered the maration and attained 31st place. Takafumi was sad but Kanako made up with him.
On August 3, Mishima sent Tomoya a letter explaining that she had realized how important Tomo is to her. She announced that she will be in town on the coming Friday. The next day, Tomoya, Tomoyo, Tomo, Takafumi, and Kanako took photos of Tomo playing in the park. 2 days later, Tomoya and Tomoyo met Mishima at the park. She refused to tell them where she is going but hinted about mountains with flowers that bloom in Spring. Tomoyo wondered how Mishima got to be this way and stressed the importance of a family. Tomoya spent the following 4 days finding out where Mishima had gone. Tomoya suggested visiting her during the Bon festival.
On August 11, Kanako begged Tomoya and Tomoyo to follow along and he agreed. The village was very remote and the villagers refused to talk to them. They met the Manager of the local hospital and she explained that the village was for people to live out the rest of their life in peace. She led them to Mishima and she explained her life and her incurable disease. Tomoya decided that Tomo should be with Mishima but she disagreed, thinking that it would be best for Tomo if she never knew that her mom will die.
2 days later, Tomoya suggested to Tomoyo to renovate a building into a school for Tomo. Tomoyo disagreed in sending Tomo back to Mishima, viewing Mishima's act as abandonment. She reasoned that Tomo had already endured the loss of her mother once before and returning her to Mishima will cause her to suffer a second loss in Mishima's passing. Tomoyo insisted that she and Tomoya were Tomo's new parents. Tomoya explained that Tomo still longed for Mishima and that they were adoptive parents to her.
That Saturday, Tomoyo invited Tomoya home to celebrate the Bon festival with Tomo. Tomoya insisted on staying and Tomoyo tried to seduce him. Tomoya rejected her and she ran away. Kanako reported that she discovered a flower field. Tomoya sent Kanako to watch over Tomoyo. Kanako reported that Tomoyo had been lost in her thoughts. The next day, Tomoyo voiced her desire to return to Tomo again but Tomoya voiced his resolve. He then requested Kanako to bring Tomoyo to the flower field.
The following day, Tomoyo tried to sneak out of the bathroom to escape from Kanako's watch but Kanako had taken her purse. Tomoyo was starting to lose her mind and threatened to use force to reclaim her purse. Kanako passed Tomoyo's purse to Tomoya and Tomoyo's rage subsided. The next day, the village experienced heavy rain. Tomoya slipped and fell and split his head open. Kanako rescued him and brought him to a doctor. Tomoya received stitches to his head. The villagers then started working on the school. Tomoya phoned Takafumi explaining that Mishima will be seeing Tomo and about Mishima's condition.
3 days later, Tomoyo requested Takafumi to mail the bear costume to her and she helped build the school while wearing it. During dinner, Kanako teased Tomoyo about the bear. The next day, Kanako unzipped Tomoyo's bear costume and they fought. Tomoyo defeated Kanako.
That Sunday, Tomoya phoned Takafumi and announced that the renovation of the school is complete. Takafumi announced that he and Tomo will be visiting the next day. Kanako reported that Tomoyo was at the flower field.
The next day, Tomoyo woke up early and wore the bear suit. Tomoyo approached Tomo in the bear suit and gave Tomo a wreath of flowers. Tomo gave Tomoyo a bear plushie. Tomoyo then removed her suit's head and promised to get stronger for Tomo and wished her well. She also wanted Tomo to be strong and watched as she returned to Mishima.
Tomoya woke up in a hospital late in September. Tomoyo was at his bedside. Tomoya realized that he had lost his memories and his last memory was of his third year of junior high. Tomoyo explained that they were lovers. Tomoya remembered his father and Tomoyo explained that he had entrusted Tomoya to her.
Tomoyo fetched Tomoya from the hospital and brought him to their high school. She explained that this was where their relationship started and that he was a delinquent. At Tomoya's apartment, Tomoyo recorded Tomoya's activities in a notebook. Tomoyo explained that she moved into his apartment after she graduated from high school. She explained that he hated his father and talked about their high school days.
Tomoya and Tomoyo went to school the next day. He tried to play basketball but discovered that his right arm was injured. Tomoyo explained that he had the injury for as long as she knew him and claimed that he sustained the injury during his last game in middle school. Tomoya suspected that it wasn't true.
Tomoya and Tomoyo met a girl named Ogawa and her class representative. She explained that she looks up to the legendary student council president. Tomoyo explained that she was talking about Misae and that she is currently the landlady of the boys' dormitory. She explained that Tomoya would visit his best friend Youhei at his dorm every day. Tomoya wanted to meet Misae and see Youhei's dorm room but Misae wasn't at the dormitory and the entrance was locked.
Tomoyo mentioned that she was also the student council president for 2 years. Tomoya suspected that he was a burden to her. She explained how Tomoya and Youhei helped her become the student council president.
Tomoya voiced his love for Tomoyo and they kissed. She was sad that he had forgotten how they used kissed. That Saturday, Tomoya suffered a headache but Tomoyo insisted on bringing him to school again. She pointed out the injury that he sustained when he fell. She was anxious about Tomoya not regaining his memories yet. Tomoyo explained about how they broke up and reunited. Tomoya confessed his feelings for Tomoyo and she remembered the promise she made to Tomo.
Tomoyo then revealed that Tomoya had lost his memories 3 years ago. He would suffer a headache and his memories would reset every 7 days. Tomoyo explained that she had been bringing him around school like this every week for the past 3 years and that the school had agreed to help her.
Tomoyo explained that this was the first time that Tomoya had confessed his feelings for her and she was optimistic about him regaining his memories. She revealed that he could undergo an operation to remove the tumor in his head and it may return his memories, but the success rate was less than half. Tomoyo waited to be sure that Tomoya could actually regain his memories.
Tomoya proposed marriage to Tomoyo and promised to fall in love with her all over again every time he lost his memory and she accepted. Tomoya's headache became worse and he lost consciousness.
The next day, Tomoya woke up and lost his memories again. Tomoyo revealed that they are engaged and Tomoya remembered his love for her.
In Fall, Tomoyo and Tomoya visited Naoyuki. They explained that they have been engaged and that Tomoya will be undergoing the surgery. Tomoyo then explained how Tomoya received his shoulder injury. Tomoya explained to his dad that he may never see him again. Outside his home, Tomoyo pointed out that Naoyuki has been cleaning his home every day since Tomoya lost his memory in expectation of Tomoya's return.
The operation wasn't successful. Tomoya lost his memory and his ability to speak. Tomoyo accompanied him during his rehabilitation. Tomoya eventually passed away. Tomoyo shared her story over the internet under the username "Forest Bear". She voiced her message of love, hope, and a wonderful life.
