The debut trailer for Torchlight 2 has been shown at GamesCom. It looks pretty interesting, take a look.

I love the fact that they quoted actual reviews and people to make their point. It's hard for a developer to accept any criticism publicly. Often they'll listen but pretend they changed for creative reasons rather than admit shortcomings. As for the gameplay, it looks excellent. Movement seems looser, areas seem wider and larger. Really glad to see some action above ground. Looks a bit plain and empty at the moment but I assume they've got a lot of work to do. Can't wait to tackle it with a friend or two. Discuss.

Hell yes, I have to actually finish the first one but so far its a brilliantly designed game and super addictive. I'm sure this will be full price but I don't care.

@Gav47:  Due to this games development cycle I can't see it being full price. The original isn't even a year old yet, and I doubt even they feel like they can push out a full game in that time. Torchlight had a lot of sales to generate interest so maybe it'll be the same price this time round but no crazy sales just after it's released that reduce it's price by 75%.

and yet, even with a smaller price, i'm sure they'll make their money back and then some. the original has a strong following (with good reason) and im sure no one will complain if the price is low.  In any case, you can tell that the original was a labor of love. I dont think these guys are necessarily only in this for the money. at least, i hope not. passion can make or break a game.

@RaceKickfist:  Yeah they seemed to make that game because they are good at it and they like making it. Hopefully the second will be the same.

@TekZero: They're doing four classes and male/female options.

Co-op is all that the first one needed, this should be great. Does anyone know how many players are supported in Co-op?

Day one purchase, the lack of multiplayer was also my only complaint.

@Malakhii:  They show at least 3 in the trailer, though I'm not sure if they've said. 4 I would think, if there are 4 classes.

@AlisterCat: four would be perfect, three just seems like an odd number to me. The difference between three and four is just a minor gripe though.

@Malakhii:  Balance is probbably an issue for them regarding how many people can play at once but 3 or 4 seems like a perfect number.

Holy crap. Watching the new Giant Bomb PAX video, they said the co-op will be 6 - 8 players. That seems crazy.

Is this still building to an MMO or have they changed course?

In the interview in Giant Bomb's new PAX video he says they still want to do it but they wanted to give people what they wanted which was the torchlight experience but with co-op which is what Torchlight 2 will be. He's said not to worry though, as their experience implementing multiplayer in to the sequel will allow them to make a better game when they get round to making the MMO. Don't expect it any time soon though.

Hopefully Diablo 3 will be out by then.  So I can play the real game instead of the rip off.
