Anyone more excited about this than they are about Dragon Age 2?

#1 Posted by Lukeweizer (2607 posts) -

I've been so excited just to have a easier means to play Torchlight (not having set up my laptop) and earn some REAL achievements, I've practically forgot about DA 2. Not too mention I started playing Diablo 2 again. I'm too invested in getting loot to care about moral choices.

Plus, I'm still in the middle of my "perfect" playthrough is Dragon Age: Origins, so I'm in no rush to play DA 2 till I finish that.

Anyone else more interested in loot than moral choices?

I had my fill of dungeon crawlers a few years ago. I don't care for them anymore.

This is an odd post. Are you trying to create hate or sides between two games that are very different from each other?

What do you mean by "real" achievements?

#7 Posted by Bloodgraiv3 (2712 posts) -

hahah no, not in the slightest.

Why is it odd? Can't I just say I'm more excited for one game over the other and see if anyone else? No flame war intended.

I mean numbers that add to a total number that is displayed for friends or interested parties to see. Not little tabs that pop up. I know people will say they're both useless. Which is true. I'm just a fan of the original.

I was altogether unimpressed with Torchlight. Enlighten me as to why it was good.

Real achievement is obtained when you accomplish something in the game. Couple day/week later someone knock at your door, congratulate you for your success while doing a high five and leave. This methods is then repeated for every real achievement you get.

I'm just a sucker for dungeon crawlers. Spent a lot of time with Diablo 2. Reminds me of the good ol' days.

Why would you be excited for DA2? That game is horrible.

I'm really excited for Torchlight 2...! But only 'cause I've played the first one to exhaustion ^^

Diablo 2 was good. Torchlight was nothing special at all.

Its just as easy to view Steam achievements as it is 360 Achievements or PS3 Trophies, I honestly don't get how one string of numbers is more "real" than another. That said, the PC version has, like, 50 more achievements than the XBLA version.

Well I was just skeptical because Dragon Age 2 just came out, and when any big triple A game comes out theres just as many hate threads as there are positive threads. I'm not trying to be a big Dragon Age 2 defender or anything, I just really despise hate threads.Your title just made it seem like a hate thread thats all. Its clear you bare no ill will towards the game so I apologizes for that.

I liked the Dog. Sending him to town was handy as it didn't take me out of the action. Equipping him with spells was also helpful and kind of entertaining. I liked it for what it is.

There's something about a big, fat number that screams "high score" or something to me. I just like the way it's set up. It is a shame there's only 12 of them. But I'll enjoy getting each one.

No hate here. I want to get the DA 2. I'm just more excited for Torchlight. That's all.

They're pretty different games, to the point where it only comes to down to which type of game you'd rather play at the moment, not really which one is "better."

That being said, after the demo and reviews confirming what I feared about DA2, I have no desire to play it. On the other hand, the Torchlight XBLA QL got me wanting to play Torchlight again, so I've been messing with that this past week.

I'm more excited to play Torchlight right now, mainly because it's cheaper. I'll pick up DA2 on the cheap later this year.

Torchlight comes out tomorrow. My copy of Dragon Age II arrives tomorrow. I'm not going to be playing Dragon Age II tomorrow, haha.
